Access to starting point:
If we arrive via the Styrian motorway, we take the Trojane exit. We continue in the direction of Zagorje through a short tunnel in Zideh, where we turn left, and after a few hundred meters right towards the village of Šentgotard. At the end of the village of Šentgotard we arrive at an intersection, where we continue right in the direction of the village of Čemšenik (left Prvine). The road then leads through the village of Dobrljevo, after which we arrive in Čemšenik. We can reach Čemšenik from several directions (Trojane, Izlak or Zagorje), we park at the public parking lot in the upper part of the center of Čemšenik above the Elementary School (above the church).
Path description:
On foot we head uphill along the asphalt road past the sports field and continue along the macadam road, after 400 m we turn right into the forest onto the footpath and after 900 m we reach the forest road again, along which we continue our walk to the church of sv. Primož. In the intermediate section the road also heads partially downhill. After 1800 m we reach the church, go past the entrance along the upper path and approx. 2500 m later we cross the path leading to Čemšeniška planina, but we continue along the same path towards Sveta planina. At two junctions we keep left and after 3000 m we reach the beginning of the steep and demanding path Špura, along which you arrive directly at the highest part of the planina. The path climbs straight up here and a rope also assists us in the ascent. This path then leads us to a somewhat rockier section, where there are also warning signs. Due to the danger of falling rocks, the use of a helmet and self-belaying is mandatory. The secured path is graded with difficulty level B/C.
From the warning signs we climb steeply up the rocks with the help of steel cables, while on the left side another trail leads along which the more difficult part of the path can be bypassed. A little below the summit, at 3/4 of Špura, we reach the love bench, where a wonderful view opens up onto the Zasavska valley with Kum in the background; to the right in the distance we see Snežnik. When we reach the top, which is called Črni vrh, we turn left towards the mountain hut on Čemšeniška planina.
We can choose, at the church of sv. Primož, to take the lower path to Ošivka. When we reach Ošivka, there is an intersection of several cart tracks, and along the path there is also a kind of bivouac and numerous dwarves and Snow White.
We leave the cart tracks and head past Snow White and the dwarves onto a narrow, somewhat less trodden path. The path begins to climb quite steeply straight through the forest. The path then crosses another cart track and leads us to the signs at the beginning of the Špura path.
We return past the mountain hut on Čemšeniška planina and then continue to CŠOD at Prvine, where after the parking lot we turn left onto the footpath towards Čemšenik and thus make a circular route. We can also turn left earlier, at the junction at the sign for Zagorje, and via a shorter path reach the path along which we climbed towards sv. Primož.
