Center Vintgar - Lookout point at Ančnikovo gradišče (via Bistriški vintgar)

Access to starting point:
From Ljubljana, we drive on the highway in the direction of Maribor. We leave the highway at the exit Slovenska Bistrica south.
We drive to the center of Slovenska Bistrica; at the first roundabout we go straight, at the second we turn right. We get to the first traffic light, where we go straight.
In the center at the second traffic light we turn left towards Zgornja Bistrica. We drive past the health home. We get to a roundabout,
where we go straight. At the next roundabout we turn right. There is also a signpost for Bistriški vintgar. We drive on the priority road.
We get to the Center Vintgar building, where there is a marked parking lot also for visitors of Bistriški Vintgar. We park here.


From Maribor, we drive on the highway in the direction of Ljubljana. We leave the highway at the exit Slovenska Bistrica north.
We drive to the center of Slovenska Bistrica. In the center at the first traffic light we go straight, at the second we turn right towards Zgornja Bistrica.
We drive past the health home. We get to a roundabout, where we go straight. At the next roundabout we turn right.
There is also a signpost for Bistriški vintgar. We drive on the priority road. We get to the Center Vintgar building, where there is a marked parking lot also for visitors of Bistriški Vintgar. We park here.

Route description:
From the parking lot in Zgornja Bistrica at the Center Vintgar building we go straight on the asphalt road. We keep to the road on the right. After 1 km of walking
we arrive at an unregulated parking lot and the "entrance" to Bistriški vintgar. From here on, we continue the path through the forest. We begin to ascend slightly. Soon we spot the Bistrica stream on our left side. After a while we descend slightly downwards on the path.
We arrive at a bridge, which we cross. From here on, we have the Bistrica stream on our right side. Here we walk more levelly. A slight ascent follows, where the path continues above the stream. A junction follows, where we go right downwards. The path leads us past the Roman quarry, the stream is again right beside us. From here on, the path becomes narrower. We continue to ascend slightly.
We arrive at the junction for the Šum waterfall (to the right), we go left upwards. On some sections we descend slightly downwards on the path. A junction follows.
The right path leads across the bridge towards Močnik and Tri Kralji. We choose the left path, along which a steep ascent awaits us upwards. To the mentioned junction we walk along the marked path the whole time. From here on, the path is not marked, but signposted with signs.
At the top of the ascent we arrive at a junction, we turn left towards Ančnikovo gradišče. We go straight slowly upwards.
Again we arrive at a junction, where the left path leads to Ančnikovo gradišče, the right one to the lookout platform. We choose the right path. After a short walk slightly upwards we arrive at the lookout platform, where we are rewarded with a wonderful view into the valley.
