Center Vintgar - Lookout point at Ančnikovo gradišče (via Bistriški vintgar)

Access to starting point:
From Ljubljana, we drive on the highway in the direction Maribor. We leave the highway at exit Slovenska Bistrica south.
We drive to the center of Slovenska Bistrica; at first roundabout we go straight, and at the second we go right. We get to the first traffic light, where we go straight.
In the center at the second traffic light we turn left towards Zgornja Bistrica. We drive past the health center. We get to a roundabout,
where we go straight. At the next roundabout we go right. There is also a signpost for Bistriški vintgar. We drive on a priority road.
We get to the building Center Vintgar, where there is a marked parking lot also for visitors of Bistriški Vintgar. Here we park.


From Maribor, we drive on the highway in the direction Ljubljana. We leave the highway at exit Slovenska Bistrica north.
We drive to the center of Slovenska Bistrica. In the center at the first traffic light we go straight, and at the second we go right towards Zgornja Bistrica.
We drive past the health center. We get to a roundabout, where we go straight. At the next roundabout we go right.
There is also a signpost for Bistriški vintgar. We drive on a priority road. We get to the building Center Vintgar, where there is a marked parking lot also for visitors of Bistriški Vintgar. Here we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot in Zgornja Bistrica at building Center Vintgar we go straight on an asphalt road. We stick to the road to the right. After 1 km of walking
we get to unregulated parking lot and to the "entrance" into Bistriški vintgar. From here further we continue through the forest. We start ascending a little. Soon on our left side we notice stream Bistrica. Eventually on the path we descend slightly downwards.
We get to the bridge, which we cross. From here further we have the stream Bistrica on our right side. Here we walk more on flat. Next follows a light ascent, where the path continues above the stream. Next follows a crossroad, where we go right downwards. The path leads us past the Roman quarry, the stream is again on the right next to us. From here further, the path becomes narrower. We are still slightly ascending.
We come to the turn-off for waterfall Šum (to the right), we go left upwards. On some parts, we on the path descend slightly downwards. Next follows a crossroad.
The right path leads over a bridge towards Močnik and Tri Kralji. We choose the left path, on which follows a steep ascent upwards. To the mentioned crossroad we all the time walk on a marked path. And from here further, the path isn't marked with trail blazes, it is marked with signs.
On the top of the ascent, we come to a crossroad, we turn left towards Ančnikovo gradišče. We go straight slowly upwards.
Again we come to a crossroad, where to the left leads the path towards Ančnikovo gradišče, and right to the lookout point. We choose the path to the right. After a short walk a little upwards we get to the lookout point, where we are rewarded with a breathtaking view towards the valley.
