Deutschfeistritz - Schartnerkogel (on road)

Access to starting point:
We leave the Maribor-Graz-Salzburg motorway (A9) after a few shorter tunnels outside Graz and continue right on the expressway in the direction of Wien-Bruck/Muhr-Peggau.
We leave the expressway at the exit Peggau-Mitte and continue right in the direction of Deutschfeistritz.
After approximately 800 m we turn right in the direction of Deutschfeistritz.
We arrive in the settlement Deutschfeistritz, cross the railway track and at the next junction turn left and then immediately right (sign Tennishalle).
We drive along a narrower street and at the next junction turn right (sign Tennishalle). We arrive at the parking lot, where we park.

Route description:
From the parking lot we go along a narrower macadam road in the direction towards Gamskogel (path no. 19).
After 50 m we turn sharply left and continue on a path steeply upwards.
We follow the signs along the forest path. The signs eventually direct us up a smaller ridge, followed by a descent. We reach an open meadow over which an electric power line runs.
At the edge of the meadow we go back into the forest and reach a macadam road.
We follow the road slightly up and down. Then we join an asphalt road.
We continue left uphill along the road and after almost 1 km (on the right side wider shoulder) leave the asphalt road and turn sharply left onto a macadam road.
We continue along the macadam road and enjoy the view. At all subsequent road junctions we keep to the best-maintained road. After approximately 3 km at the junction we continue straight ahead (the left branch leads to a fence or private land).
We continue along the road but only up to the point where it begins to descend on the other side of the hill. At that point we leave the road, go right uphill and after 150 m reach the summit.
