Dolina Gračnice (Blatnik) - Lisca

Access to starting point:
We drive to Rimske Toplice, where we follow the signs to the railway station. From the railway station, we drive along the road leading further towards Gračnica and Podklošter, and soon passes through an underpass to the eastern side of the railway line. At the confluence of Gračnica and Savinja, we arrive at a junction, next to which we notice the first hiking signposts. We continue left in the direction of Lisca and Lovrenc, and further on we drive along the Gračnica valley. Later the road leads past the NOB memorial park, but we drive another few 100 m further to the junction, where we turn right over the bridge. Immediately after the bridge, we notice red hiking signposts, where the described trail begins.
There are no designated parking spaces for hikers here, but there are some parking possibilities also higher along the road.

Route description:
From the bridge we head onto the side road, alongside which there are signs for Lisca and Lovrenc; the path first leads past the Blatnik homestead, where there is a stamp, we continue along the gentle asphalt road that takes us through the Lokovec settlement, where the path runs along the valley by the Lokavški stream. Further on, houses along the road become more frequent and we arrive at a marked junction by a chapel, where we turn right onto the road following the signs for sv. Lovrenc (left sv. Kolman).
We also continue ascending along the Lokavški stream on the asphalt road until a junction where a gravel road branches off to the right from the asphalt road.
We continue between both roads on the marked path that enters the forest and turns slightly left, where at junctions we follow the markers. Higher we briefly step onto a cart track, from it we go steeply uphill on newly built steps. Further on we ascend steeply for some time, then the path levels somewhat, higher it has a few more junctions where we cross a cart track or follow the markers. At an altitude of about 600 m we reach a somewhat wider cart track that further on leads along the right side of the Dežan homestead. On this section a nice view of the surroundings opens up, the path behind the homestead ascends transversely to the left. When we approach the Centrih farm the path turns sharply right and takes us to a marked junction west of the farm.
Here a path branches off to the right towards Veliki Kozji, we continue left towards Lovrenc and Lisca and skirt the farm on the right side.
A little further we arrive at a chapel, where paths from Radeče and Breg join us from the right, we continue in the direction of Lisca and ascend along the fenced area to the church of sv. Lovrenc, from which a nice view opens.
We bypass the church on the right side and descend along the fenced path along the meadow to the gravel road, which we follow to the right, at the nearby junction we turn right again. Further on we descend the asphalt road, at the end of the meadow on the left side we turn left onto the marked path that continues along the right edge of the meadow, when the path enters the forest we follow the markers. There follows some gentle to moderate ascent through the forest, when we leave the forest a nice view opens. Here follows a short steep descent, lower the path forks.
We head left onto the longer path along which the markers continue (the straight path leads across private land), we ascend on the cart track to the gravel road, which we follow to the right.
From the gravel road we soon go right downhill onto the access path towards the nearby house, before approaching the house we go straight onto the path that ascends the western to southwestern grassy slopes of Njivce hill. Higher the path enters the forest, where without major changes in elevation we cross the southern wooded slopes, then from the cart track we go right downhill to a footpath that lower takes us onto a meadow across which we descend transversely. When the path levels out there is still a crossing through a strip of forest and we reach the asphalt road and follow it right in the direction of Lisca. There follows some walking along the asphalt road with occasional views, when we return to the forest we go right from the road in the direction of Lisca, a little further we cross the asphalt road again. There follows walking through a strip of bushes and low forest, then we reach another asphalt road and continue the ascent on it. When the road that continues towards Lisca turns left, we head right onto the cart track, which immediately forks. We choose the left cart track that leads us uphill past a chapel from 1900 along the slope, when higher we reach the ridge connecting Zlaški hrib with Lisca we go left (here the usual path from Breg to Lisca joins from the right), just a minute or two further past another marked junction we arrive at the church of sv. Jošt.
We continue left from the church in the direction of Lisca and first ascend transversely through the forest to the left, then the path turns right and subsequently ascends transversely to the right. A bit further other paths from the direction of Sevnica join from the right side, we continue straight, where a little higher we leave the forest and walk along the lower edge of a larger meadow to Tončkov dom on Lisca, then past Jurčkova koča on Lisca we quickly ascend to the panoramic summit of Lisca.
