Dom pod Storžičem - Mali Javornik

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Ljubelj exit. From this road, turn right towards Tržič just before the petrol station. Follow the road through Tržič and on the other side of Tržič turn right towards Lom pod Storžičem. Follow this road towards the signs for Dom pod Storžičem. Park at the parking lot a few meters before the mountain hut.

Path description:
From the parking lot near Dom pod Storžičem, head onto the left road towards Javorniško sedlo, Jezersko, Tič, Rekar and Grahovše. After a few steps, the road forks, but we continue slightly right towards Javorniški preval and gradually begin a moderate ascent.
Higher up, where the road turns into a cart track, leave it and continue right along the marked path, which begins to ascend more steeply and crosses the cart track twice more to Javorniški preval, which can also be reached via the cart track. After approximately 1 hour of hiking, reach the mentioned pass, where there is a signpost and a logbook box, and several paths branch off.
Here continue left (right to Kanonir, sharply right to Storžič), where after a few dozen steps you arrive at the next junction. Continue along the slightly right path towards Stegovnik and Močnikovo sedlo (slightly left to Planina Javornik).
Continue along the cart track crossing the eastern slopes of the Ženiklovec subpeak. After a few minutes of traverse walking, the cart track joins another somewhat wider cart track, where continue straight ahead, or slightly right and moderately downhill. The cart track soon levels out and the path leads past a collapsing water trough to a scenic grassy slope, where you encounter an orienteering loop. At the signpost, which is often knocked over, leave the cart track and continue left up the grassy slope. After a short ascent, the path turns right and continues through a spruce forest. The hiking trail widens into a cart track after just a few minutes of further walking, which you then follow for quite some time (markings in this section are sparse and faded). After a while, the cart track turns back into a footpath, leading through the forest to the southern slopes of Mali Javornik.
At the spot where the marked trail to Mačensko sedlo becomes less visible (this is where a nice passage opens to the left uphill), leave the marked path and continue the ascent left uphill through easier pathless terrain (in fog, orientation in this section is difficult).
Continue ascending the indistinct and only lightly vegetated ridge of Mali Javornik. After approximately 15 minutes of pathless hiking, step onto the little-visited and panoramic summit.
