Dom v Dragi - Tolsti vrh (at Poljška planina)

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Begunje na Gorenjskem (to here from the Gorenjska motorway exit Radovljica, from Žirovnica or from the traffic-light intersection at Podvin), and then we follow the signs for Tržič. Towards the end of the settlement, we leave the road towards Tržič and continue left towards the castle Kamen and Draga. On a somewhat narrower road we then drive to the marked parking lot, which is situated some 10 meters before the mountain hut Dom v Dragi.
B) We drive to Bistrica pri Tržiču, and then we follow the signs for Begunje na Gorenjskem. When we arrive at the mentioned place, we continue right in the direction of the castle Kamen and Draga valley. On a somewhat narrower road we then drive to the marked parking lot, which is situated some 10 meters before the mountain hut Dom v Dragi.

Path description:
From the marked parking lot, we continue on the road which over a bridge crosses the stream Begunjščica, and then we continue right in the direction of the mountain hut Roblekov dom, Begunjščica, mountain pasture Poljška planina and Prevale (left Dom v Dragi). Further on, we still walk on the road which leads us past an apiary, and when we get to the confluence the path splits. To the right goes the marked path towards Prevala, and we go left and continue walking on the macadam road. Next follows a somewhat steeper ascent, and then the blazes direct us left onto a forest path, on which we ascend quite steeply. Higher up we cross the macadam road a few times or approach it, and then we step out of the forest, where we arrive at the mountain pasture Planinca.
On the mentioned mountain pasture we return to the road, and we continue straight (right mountain pasture Prevala) and after approximately 15 minutes of further walking we arrive at Tomčeva koča na Poljški planini, where there is the next junction.
We continue left (right Roblekov dom na Begunjščici), where initially we still walk on the macadam road, and we leave the path towards St. Peter at the junction of cart tracks, from where we continue straight on an indistinct ridge, where we follow an unmarked trail. During the ascent a nice view opens up on the right side towards Stol, and then the path returns to the forest and brings us to the highest point of Tolsti vrh.
