Dovje - Bela peč (above Dovje)

Access to starting point:
A) We leave the Gorenjska highway at the Jesenice west exit (Hrušica), and then continue driving in the direction of Kranjska Gora. On the main road towards Kranjska Gora we drive to the first turn-off to the road towards Dovje; through the settlement we follow the signs for Dovška Baba. After crossing the Mlinca stream, where there is a small hydropower plant (MHE), we park at an appropriate place by the road, where there are also hiking signposts.
B) First we drive to Kranjska Gora, and then continue driving towards Jesenice. We leave the main road towards Jesenice when the signs for Dovje direct us left; through the settlement we follow the signs for Dovška Baba. After crossing the Mlinca stream, where there is a small hydropower plant (MHE), we park at an appropriate place by the road, where there are also hiking signposts.

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue left towards Dovška Baba, where we first cross a stream, then ascend through the forest. We quickly reach a cart track that leads us along the edge of the hay meadow; through a strip of forest we arrive at a newer holiday cottage. Behind the cottage we go left, where we ascend across a short grassy slope, from which, looking back, a nice view opens up onto the Julian Alps; after that the path steeply ascends through the forest. Higher up we cross an older fence, behind which we step onto the mountain pasture Goreljše, where the path first turns left uphill, then right and ascends with wonderful views to a newer, still unfinished cottage located on the upper edge of the mentioned pasture.
Behind the cottage the path turns left and ascends to the road, which we merely cross, then continue the traversing ascent to the right. For some time we ascend through the forest, and the path gradually transitions into more crumbly terrain over which we traverse up interesting scree slopes. The scree slopes end after a few minutes, the path turns slightly left and shifts from the southern to the eastern slopes of Bela peč.
Just before the marked path reaches the macadam road, we leave the marked path leading further towards Dovška Baba, turning left onto a beaten unmarked trail that begins to ascend towards Bela peč. Occasionally quite a steep path, where especially when wet additional caution is needed, leads us higher to or along the ridge, where the trail levels out somewhat, and only a few minutes of walking separate us from the summit.
