Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Železniki, then continue driving towards Dražgoše. Through Dražgoše we follow the main road to the part of the village named Na Pečeh, where we continue slightly left onto a side road in the direction of Bičkova skala, Dražgoška gora and hamlet Jelenšče. Above the hamlet Jelenšče we continue on the forest road, but only to the first crossroad, where we park at an appropriate place by the signposts.
B) We drive to Kranj, then follow the signs for Besnica (the turn-off from the old Ljubljana - Kranj road is before the bridge over the Sava river, or after the bridge if coming from the Kranj direction). We continue driving through Spodnja and Zgornja Besnica and Njivica. A little further on we arrive in Nemilje; after the mentioned settlement the road starts to ascend more steeply. When we arrive in Podblica, we follow the main road; above Podblica we reach the main Kropa - Dražgoše road, which we follow to the left (if the bend is too sharp, there is an arranged turning area some 10 meters to the right). We continue past the church of St. Jedert, then soon arrive in Dražgoše, where we first reach a crossroad from which the road to Sv. Križ branches left. Here we continue on the main road, then arrive in the center of Dražgoše, where at the section named Na Pečeh we turn sharply right onto a side road in the direction of Bičkova skala, Dražgoška gora and hamlet Jelenšče (the signs are from the opposite direction, so we can easily miss them). Above the hamlet Jelenšče we continue on the forest road, but only to the first crossroad, where we park at an appropriate place by the signposts.
C) We drive to Kropa, then continue driving towards Dražgoše and Železniki. When we arrive in Dražgoše, in the center of Dražgoše, at the section named Na Pečeh, we turn sharply right onto a side road in the direction of Bičkova skala, Dražgoška gora and hamlet Jelenšče (the signs are from the opposite direction, so we can easily miss them). Above the hamlet Jelenšče we continue on the forest road, but only to the first crossroad, where we park at an appropriate place by the signposts.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue right in the direction of Bičkova skala (left Dražgoška gora, Kališnik and Vodiška planina mountain pasture) and continue on the road which ascends transversely to the right. Soon an unmarked steep path (cart track) branches off to the left towards Britmanca, but we continue straight and after about 10 minutes of walking reach Bičkova skala, located a few steps to the right of the road, from which a beautiful view opens up over Dražgoše and the surrounding hills.
From Bičkova skala we continue further on the narrower asphalt road, which crosses steep and occasionally panoramic slopes. Higher up, a path joins from the right leading along the slopes of Lajška gora (the mentioned path is marked with local signs and is poorly trodden); the road then turns slightly left and takes us to the Jelovica plateau.
Here at the Natura 2000 area information board, a path branches off slightly to the right to Bela peč, but we continue along the wider macadam road to a marked crossroad from which we take the left road in the direction of Bohinjska Bistrica, Dražgoška gora and Kališnik mountain pasture.
We continue on a noticeably narrower macadam road, which ascends gently to moderately for some time. When we reach a right bend where a poorer road marked with cairns branches off to the left, we take the left road along which we continue, accompanied by occasional small cairns and here and there a red mark on a rock. Several forks follow, where we follow the wider path; after a short descent we go right, then continue straight to the ridge; when we reach the ridge we go left onto the cart track, which shortly afterwards turns into a footpath along which in a few minutes we reach the bench at the viewpoint on Britmanca.
