Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču - Prisank / Prisojnik (Kopiščarjeva pot)

From Kranjska Gora on the road which leads over the mountain pass Vršič we drive towards Bovec or vice versa. Between 22th and 23th hairpin turn of Vršič road we will get to the parking lot below the mountain hut Erjavčeva koča, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot at the mountain hut Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču we go on a footpath in the direction of the mountain hut Poštarski dom and Prisojnik on the path Kopiščarjeva pot. The path on which we walk is at first gentle and grassy, and then crosses a torrent, where usually runs a well, and behind the torrent it ascends diagonally. We continue on a marked path, which a little ahead crosses old road, and when we reach it the second time we continue there to first right hairpin turn.
From the mentioned hairpin turn we continue straight on a footpath which then crosses slopes towards the left, and from there nice view opens up towards Heathen maiden and surrounding mountains. After the crossing of some smaller gullies path for some time steeply ascends and it brings us to a marked crossing, where we continue left (right mountain hut Poštarski dom na Vršiču).
Next follows a diagonal ascent towards a wall of Prisojnik, still before we reach the wall the path branches off to the right towards the saddle between Prisojnik and Sovna glava.
Here we continue straight and we soon get to the beginning of the climbing part of the path, where we quickly find out, that path on which we continue isn't for everyone. The path ahead by the steel cable crosses the wall to the left and then turns right steeply upwards. Next follows longer steep ascent, where we have fixed safety gear for help, mainly stemples and steel cables, and higher slope flattens a little and then follows an ascent through dwarf pines, from where a nice view opens up on Heathen maiden. On this part, the path goes a little to the right, and again gradually becomes steeper and runs on a rocky slope, where occasionally we get a help from some iron spikes and steel cables. Next follows traversing towards the left and then we are before the entrance into the hardest part of the path, where in front of us is 15 meters high chimney. On chimney we are ascending with the help of numerous stemples, chimney is on some spots also slightly overhung, so we need to be concentrated and have strength in arms. Next follows an ascent on stemples through so narrow passage, that we have to take off a backpack and push it in front of us. We are still steeply ascending by the steel cable, and then we come on a little less steep slopes, which take us to a crossing, where from the left joins the path from the mountain hut Koča na Gozdu. We continue slightly right upward and then follows some easy climbing on rugged rocks, mostly without fixed safety gear. We will soon on the right side notice window Prednje okno in Prisojnik. At the ascent towards the window we have to be quite careful because the path is quite crumbly and full of gravel and also exposed to falling stones. And in the early summer, there is here still snow. From the window we then ascend steeply upwards with the help of numerous stemples and then we join the path Grebenska pot on Prisojnik.
At the crossing, we continue left (right Vršič), but all problems are not over yet. The path turns left and on a slightly exposed slope by the steel cable ascends towards the ridge. A walk on the ridge is then a little easier, but on some spots still quite exposed. Later from the right join also paths Slovenska pot and Jubilejna pot. Then follows only a shorter ascent and we soon reach a very panoramic peak.
The path Kopiščarjeva pot on Prisojnik is appropriate only for experienced mountaineers, many mountaineers consider it even as the most difficult high mountain secured climbing path on the territory of Slovenia. The descent is recommended on the path Slovenska pot.
