From Kranjska Gora along the road which leads over the Vršič pass we drive towards Bovec or vice versa. Between the 22nd and 23rd hairpin turns of the Vršič road we will get to the parking lot below the Erjavčeva koča mountain hut, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot at the Erjavčeva koča mountain hut on Vršič we head onto the footpath in the direction of Poštarski dom and Prisojnik along the Kopiščarjeva pot. The path we are walking is initially gentle and grassy, then it crosses a torrent where a cold spring usually flows, and behind the torrent it ascends diagonally. We continue on the marked path, which shortly ahead crosses the old road, and when we reach it the second time we continue along it to the first right hairpin turn.
From the mentioned hairpin turn we continue straight on the footpath, which further crosses the slopes towards the left, from which a nice view opens towards Ajdovska deklica and the surrounding mountains. After crossing some smaller gullies the path ascends more steeply for a while and brings us to a marked junction, where we continue left (right Poštarski dom na Vršiču).
A diagonal ascent towards the wall of Prisojnik follows; still before reaching the wall a path branches off to the right towards the saddle between Prisojnik and Sovna glava.
We continue on the mentioned right path (straight Kopiščarjeva pot to Prisojnik), which further ascends diagonally below the walls of Prisojnik. Higher the slope flattens and after some further 10 steps we reach the better-trodden path from the Vršič pass.
From the small saddle we continue left towards Prisojnik (right Sovna glava and Vršič) and continue the path across the scree. Further across the scree we cross the slopes on the western side of Prisank or Prisojnik. The path ahead rises somewhat more steeply and brings us to the place where the Grebenska pot to Prisojnik branches off to the left, while straight ahead the path continues to Razor, Pogačnikov dom and Prisojnik via the Južna, Slovenska and Jubilejna paths.
From the junction we head onto the Grebenska pot, which continues along the southern slope just below the ridge of Prisojnik. The path ahead leads across a very steep slope, which is especially when wet very dangerous for slipping. Higher the path turns somewhat to the right, and from the left the path through Prednje okno (Kopiščarjeva pot) joins.
The window, which we see on our left side (below us), we bypass on the right side, and above the window the path becomes technically more demanding. The path further runs along the precipitous ridge, where fixed safety gear helps us to progress more safely. After some time the difficulties ease somewhat, but the danger is not over yet, as we walk along the ridge all the time, which is in places very exposed. A little below the summit the path withdraws from the ridge onto the southern slopes, where the Slovenska pot joins.
Here we continue left and only a short ascent to the very panoramic summit follows.
We can descend via the easier Slovenska pot.
