Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper motorway, we head towards the Divača exit, then continue driving towards Divača. Before Divača we turn right towards the village Dolnje Ležeče and Famlje. We park before the beginning of the village Famlje, at a suitable spot by the road.
Route description:
WARNING: The path Famlje–Vremščica is CLOSED! Hikers are informed that the path Famlje–Vremščica is closed until further notice due to dangerous and officially prohibited crossing of an active double-track railway line. Crossing the tracks on this section is no longer possible. For a safe ascent to Vremščica, please choose the official starting points Gabrče or Matavun, which cross the line via a safe overpass.
A more suitable alternative for safe crossing of the line is already being sought and arranged.
From the starting point we continue along the main road through the village, then the signs for Vremščica direct us left onto a gravel road, which we follow to the nearby orchard. Before the orchard the signs for Vremščica direct us slightly right onto a cart track that continues between the orchard and the fields. On the other side of the fields the path enters a low forest, through which it begins to ascend moderately. Somewhat higher we cross an old cart track, and the path leads us under a power line, where it turns right. This is followed by a crossing to the right, and the path leads us directly along the railway line. After a few minutes of crossing we arrive at the Vreme railway station.
From the station we first carefully cross the double-track railway line, then begin to ascend moderately across a partly grassy slope. Higher up we reach a cart track, which we follow to the right to the nearby asphalt road. We also follow the road to the right, walking along it for about 20 minutes, or more precisely to a small intersection where a marked path (initially a road) branches off to the left towards Vremščica (up to here it is also possible by car - starting point Loščica).
After a few 10 m the road leads us to an old wagon converted into a bivouac, where it turns into a cart track. We continue along the marked cart track, which ascends moderately through a low forest. Higher up there are a few smaller junctions, but if we carefully follow the markings, there are no major orientation difficulties. After some time the forest thins out and the increasingly scenic path leads us to a junction where we join the path from Matavun (Škocjanske jame).
Here we continue straight or slightly right along a less distinct cart track, which gradually turns into forest and becomes a nicely traceable path. Somewhat higher the path from Senožeče also joins, and we continue straight and ascend through another belt of forest. Higher up the forest thins out, and the increasingly scenic path quickly leads us to the summit of Vremščica.

Along the route: Loščica (660m)

Discussion about the trip Famlje - Vremščica (začasno ZAPRTA pot!)
|
| B215. 08. 2012 |
The description incorrectly states the following: When we arrive under the power lines, we turn sharply right and walk along the marked path under the railway embankment (and not along the track, the track is about twenty meters above us!) and always under the power lines, to the platform (former!) Vreme railway station (the station building no longer exists, it was demolished years ago!). Here, at the beginning, we cross the railway track over the metal fence (there is no passage anywhere!)... Above the asphalt road there is no hunting lodge, but a bivouac - converted from an old wagon (mentioned for easier orientation - so no one looks for a hunting lodge)... This place is called Loščica and not Loka (Tominčeva loka is a valley deep under the road)... So we go from Loščica and not from Loka...
