Access to starting point:
We leave the Maribor-Graz-Salzburg motorway (A9) after a few shorter tunnels outside Graz and continue right on the expressway in the direction of Wien-Bruck/Muhr-Peggau.
We leave the expressway at the Frohnleiten exit and turn left. After the underpass, we turn right onto the parking lot of the railway station, where we park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we go along the road upwards through the underpass. After the underpass, we turn left down a side road.
A smaller bridge follows, which we cross, and continue right on the walking path along the stream upwards.
Behind the last house the signpost directs us left into the forest. At the beginning, the path leads upwards in hairpin turns, past a viewpoint. Then we follow the path along the ridge upwards.
In between there are also a few flat sections, but nevertheless the path towards the summit becomes steeper and steeper.
A few minutes below the first peak we reach a viewpoint with a small bench. Then follows a shorter ascent to the top.
From the peak with a cross we continue on the path on the other side downwards and come to a junction.
The left path leads down a steep slope into Frohleiten, but we choose the right path in the direction of Rote Wand.
We arrive at an open area with a view towards the west; we see the neighbouring hill "Hochtrötsch".
The path then leads back into the forest. After 100m of path slightly upwards we arrive at the highest point with the mark "1000m".
