Gabonjin - Sveti Petar (Gabonjin)

Access to starting point:
From the Rupa - Rijeka / Rijeka or Zagreb - Rijeka / Rijeka motorway, we drive towards Rijeka, from there we follow the signs for Krk Island. When the motorway or the expressway in the final section ends, we descend to the Krk Bridge (toll 35 kuna - March 2014), then continue driving towards the towns of Omišalj, Njivice and Malinska. The road then takes us to the Plodine shopping center, where the first road to Malinska branches off to the right, but we continue from there to the nearby roundabout, from which we continue driving towards the town of Vrbnik. From the roundabout onwards, the road begins to climb gradually and leads us to the nearby settlement of Gabonjin. We park a few tens of meters before the start of the settlement in the arranged parking lot next to the cemetery.

Path description:
From the starting point we continue briefly along the main road, then in the settlement of Gabonjin the signs for Vidikovac and the church of St. Peter direct us right onto a somewhat narrower road that continues through the village. During the easy walk through the village we follow the signs, then soon arrive behind the village at a well-marked junction. We continue further in the direction of the church of St. Peter. The narrow asphalt road then leads us under a power line, behind which we soon reach a right bend.
At the beginning of the bend a marked footpath branches off to the left leading towards the summit of St. Peter, a few meters further on there is also an unmarked path to the summit. We continue along the gently sloping marked path, which shortly afterwards turns right and climbs somewhat more steeply. We continue over a few steps where we cross a fence, then in moderate ascent we join the previously mentioned unmarked path. We only cross the unmarked path, then in less than a minute of further walking we ascend to the panoramic summit with the church of St. Peter.
