Glashütten - Kleiner Speikkogel (Golica / Koralpe)

Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Maribor, then continue on the highway towards the border crossing Šentilj and further on the Austrian highway towards Graz. We leave the mentioned highway at the exit for the settlement Lipnica / Leibnitz. When we exit the highway, at the roundabout we continue in the direction of the settlement Lipnica / Leibnitz and then drive south of the village Gralla, which today is already some kind of peripheral part of Lipnica. Further, the road leads us past the industrial or trading zone, and at the roundabout by the Hofer store we continue "straight" on the second exit in the direction of the settlement Lonč / Deutschlandsberg. Further, we drive for some time on the main road, then after the village Graschach turn right in the direction of the settlement Lonč / Deutschlandsberg. At the roundabout right next to the settlement Lonč / Deutschlandsberg, we continue "straight" in the direction of the alpine pass Weinebene. From here, the road starts to ascend more steeply, and we follow it for approximately 15 km, then turn left towards the settlement Glashütten. A short descent follows, and we arrive at the center of the village, where we park at the parking lot by the Church of the Name of Mary.

Path description:
From the starting point, on the road by which we arrived at the starting point, we return to the first bend, then head onto the marked path in the direction of the hut Grünangerhütte and the peak Großer Speikkogel. Already after a few dozen steps of ascent, we reach a macadam road, which we cross and then continue past the beehives. Next follows a gentle descent and we return to the macadam road, then continue for some time directly alongside the road, later in a moderate descent gradually moving away from it. Lower down, over two successive small bridges we cross two streams, followed by a gentle transverse ascent to a cart track, which we follow briefly to the left, then quickly go right onto the marked path, which continues along the fence, the latter above the pasture Mottl.
Next follows some more gentle descent, lower down we also cross the stream Höllgraben, shortly after reaching the stream Schwarze Sulm, where there is a dilapidated and dangerous bridge so we go right and begin ascending along the stream upwards. Higher up we return to the macadam road alongside which we initially walked, and along it over the bridge we cross the stream, on the other side of the bridge we go right and continue the ascent on a poorer and fairly steep macadam road. Later we bypass a masonry object on the right side, shortly after from the ever-worsening road we go left onto the marked footpath, which temporarily ascends more steeply. When a few minutes higher we reach two successive roads, we only cross the first, follow the second to the left and walk along it for some time. We leave the road at the place where the markers lead us slightly right into the forest, where we immediately cross yet another road, and the path slowly turns to the left direction and quickly brings us to the hut Grünangerhütte.
Past the hut we continue right and continue the ascent on the marked footpath. After a few minutes of ascent through sparse forest we arrive at a smaller junction, where we continue straight in the direction of the path over Steinmandl. A little further we cross the pasture fence, behind it we continue a few minutes of ascent through the forest. When we leave the forest we cross the forest road, immediately above the road the path splits.
Before crossing the pasture fence we go right, where the marked path towards the peak Steinmandl continues (straight unmarked path to the nearby Loskogel). Follows some steep ascent along the edge of the forest, then the path levels out and transitions to the indistinct ridge of the peak Steinmandl, where from the right an unmarked path joins us, which leads over the pasture Bärentalalm.
From here follows yet a shorter moderate ascent and amid beautiful views we reach an interesting peak with turrets.
From the peak follows a slight descent, then we gradually begin ascending along the fence, ahead of us we see the peak Hühnerstütze. The path further leads us past the branch-off for Zwergenstein, the path somewhat further turns left and begins crossing the slopes of the peak Hühnerstütze to the left. Follows a longer gentle ascent, and amid ever more beautiful views we reach the junction on the indistinct saddle between the peaks Seespitz and Hühnerstütze.
Here we continue straight or slightly left in the direction of the peak Großer Speikkogel (sharply right Hühnerstütze, pass Weinebene and also our starting point) and continue lightly ascending further, the path brings us to the western slopes of the peak Seespitz.
For a few minutes we cross the somewhat steeper slopes of the mentioned peak, then reach the saddle Seespitzsattel, where from the right the path past the cross Schäferkreuz joins us.
Again we continue in the direction of the highest peak of the range, and we begin transversely ascending the slopes of the peak Kleiner Speikkogel, after a few minutes of transverse ascent we reach the main ridge, which we reach on the saddle between the two highest peaks of Golica.
Here we continue left onto the unmarked path leading towards the peak Kleiner Speikkogel (right Großer Speikkogel 4 minutes). Follows a shorter ascent and we reach the forepeak, from which a beautiful view opens onto the nearby peak, to which we have a few more minutes of gentle ascent amid beautiful views.
