Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the road past the last houses and in five minutes we reach the closed Glavaš shelter. We recognize it by the blue container. Just before it, a path branches off to the left. Continue on this path and after 10 minutes of a somewhat steeper ascent, we reach the Glavaš fortress. The path then enters a belt of low shrubbery, then into the forest. After a while, we emerge from the forest onto a more rocky path, walking on rocks. Soon we arrive above the valley, which we cross along the slope. The path ascends steadily. From the left, an unmarked path from the valley unobtrusively joins us (especially on descent, be careful not to turn onto this path, otherwise it leads directly to the starting point, but it is very overgrown). After about an hour and a half of walking, we reach the Gornji bunar spring at 1000m altitude. Walk another 5 minutes on switchbacks to the junction. Continue straight towards "sklonište Martinove Košare" (left to shelter Drago Grubać and Vrh Sinjal). The path steeply ascends the grassy slope, which is also flowering. After a few zigzags, we reach the edge of the grassy field called Donje Turine. Here, a direct path to Dinara barely noticeably branches off to the left (if not visiting the bivouac, take this path). The path ascends very gently across the field and in 15 minutes from the edge, we are at the Martinova Košara shelter. The bivouac is very neglected. There is also a well nearby.
From the bivouac, continue slightly downhill across the meadow westwards. Walk a bit more across the Donje Torine field. After 10 minutes, the path starts ascending and soon the direct path joins from the left. Continue straight. The path ascends transversely across the grassy slopes. After about half an hour, the path enters a forest belt, then crosses a short rocky section and reaches the prominent side ridge of Dinara. The path crosses small rock slabs and then steeply ascends to a junction, where the path past the chapel of Sv. Ilija and Unište (already in Bosnia) joins from the right. The signpost shows half an hour to the summit. The path continues ascending along the grassy ridge to the pre-summit of Dinara. From it, we can already see the red tower on Dinara. The path then goes into the dwarf pine, ascending gradually, and in 10 minutes we emerge from the dwarf pine. In the continuation, we have a few more minutes of somewhat steeper path and reach the tower, which is 3 minutes below the highest point. In the tower, we can enjoy the sun or shelter from the wind. The stamp is a few meters below the tower on the rock. For HPO, a photo is mandatory. Behind the tower, continue along the somewhat rocky ridge and in 3 minutes we reach the cross on the highest peak of Croatia, from where there is a beautiful view of Bosnia, the rest of the Dinaric Alps, Velebit, Zadar archipelago and Peručko jezero.
Description and photos refer to the condition in June 2023.
