Gorjane (Železno) - Bivak Lovske družine Pišece

Access to starting point:
a) From the Sevnica - Krško road, head towards Brestanica, then follow the signs for Podsredo. Before starting to descend towards Podsredo, in the settlement of Gorjane we reach the Železno pass, where the described trail begins next to the Gorjane bus stop. There are no suitable parking spots at the starting point.
b) Drive to Podsredo, then follow the signs for Krško, Sevnica and Brestanica. Route description:
From the bus stop, head onto the side road, which has signs for Grad Podsreda and Ekološka kmetija Krivec, where the path leads past a few more houses; at the next intersection, go straight towards Grad Podsreda. The road then moderately ascends, later passing a cross and one house, then continues through the forest for some time. Higher up, the road levels out and leads to a marked intersection, from which continue straight towards Grad Podsreda (right Krško and Brestanica).
Followed by a slight sideways descent through the forest, arriving at a well-kept rest area near the chapel of St. Florian, from where a nice view of Grad Podsreda opens up.
Continue along the road and within a few minutes of further walking reach the castle, where on the outer side of the wall there is a logbook box and above it a stamp.
Bypass the castle on the right and continue the ascent on the asphalt road, which leads past two parking areas, then ascend through the forest to a marked junction, continuing right towards Pišec, Bizeljski and Veliki vrh (left Svete gore).
A little further from the junction, leave the forest, where on a larger meadow the road turns left and splits once more.
This time choose the left road, along which the Knafelc markings continue (straight Slovenska turno kolesarska pot), returning to the forest shortly after. A sideways ascent through the forest follows; when the forest on the left ends, a view opens to the nearby Rigelj, the peak with antennas, and we quickly ascend to a marked junction, where the path from Zavetišče v Pečicah joins from the right, specifically the path past the Švajger farmstead.
The path continues with nice views along the pastures of the hamlet Pusti Vrh, then temporarily returns to the forest. Upon leaving the forest, with views of Veliki vrh, the highest peak of the Orlice range, walk to the junction in the middle of the hamlet Preska, continuing straight (left another path to Svete gore) to the 1-minute distant turn-off towards Veliki vrh.
Continue straight along the road (also possible right over Veliki vrh, though the path is somewhat longer and poorly marked in places), which bypasses the Šulc farm on the left, where the PPKB stamp (Planinska pot Krško - Brežice) is located.
Continue a few more minutes along the meadows, then the road enters the forest and gradually turns south, quickly reaching the pass below Šuljev breg, which is also a marked junction.
From the marked junction, continue left onto the marked footpath towards Velika bukva, Pišec and Bizeljski (sharply left forest road allowing continuation to Svete gore, slightly left forest road running parallel to our marked path, straight Kerinov spomenik, 1 minute). The path leads through the forest with some shorter ascents and descents, initially to the right of the road, later crossing it and continuing left of it for a while, then along it. Upon reaching a sort of pass, leave the road and continue left on the marked path, which gently ascends through the forest, moderately further on. Higher up, the path brings us near the highest point of Intermedija peak, go left and reach the summit of Intermedija in a few steps.
Continue on the marked path, which begins descending through the forest; a few minutes lower, return to the road and continue with a slight ascent to Bivak Lovske družine Pišece.
