Leave the A1 motorway at the Split exit. Continue on the expressway to Split, then proceed along the Adriatic Highway to the town of Stobreč. Here, pay attention to the marked and signalized left turn-off just after the bridge over the Žrnovnica river. Drive through Žrnovnica to the marked intersection, where you continue left towards Donje Sitno and Gornje Sitno. Upon reaching the intersection above Donje Sitno, continue left. Shortly after the Church of Saint Luke, turn slightly left towards Gornje Sitno. Drive through the village to the parking lot at the end of the village.
Path description:
The described path is very poorly marked, traceable and overgrown with thorns. We must also watch out for snakes.
From the starting point, continue along the road past the branch to the Umberto Girometta mountain hut to its end. Then find the trail that goes up the steep slope. The path winds in steep zigzags with the help of occasional steps towards the visible chapel on Strmica (723 m). We arrive at a small saddle between Volujak and Strmica, where an invisible path branches left towards the chapel. The path descends into a small valley. In between, a rope assists over a short rock slab. There is a huge amount of thorns on the path. When we begin the ascent, we reach a visible junction, where we continue straight ahead. Left to Žrnovnica and Lugarnica mountain hut, from where it is also possible to reach Ljubljan; right to Umberto Girometta mountain hut and Ljubljan via the upper path. The path steeply ascends to the edge and levels out. We walk through the valley between sinkholes behind Mekinjo glavica (857 m) and after half an hour of walking with intermediate short descents, mostly along the dry stone wall, we arrive at the junction on Klančac. Here we turn right onto the overgrown trail, straight to Lugarnica mountain hut. If the path is too overgrown, we can continue straight and later right. The path first steeply descends into a sinkhole, then unevenly ascends through the forest. The path is very poorly trodden, so we must follow the not very frequent markers extremely carefully. In between, we encounter small meadows over which the path is not traceable. It leads us through numerous thorny sections. After about 45 minutes of walking, we arrive at a barely noticeable junction, where a somewhat better trodden path joins from the left past the Lugarnica mountain hut. Continue right towards Ljubljan. The path becomes steep and somewhat overgrown. After about 20 minutes, we arrive at a small clearing and junction, where we continue right towards Ljubljan and Vickov stup. Straight to Bivak Ljubljan. The initially barely visible trail turns into a band of rocks, which we cross. Then the path brings us in zigzags into a more rocky terrain. Soon we arrive at a barely visible junction, where we continue right towards Vickov stup and Kabala, left to Ljubljan 5 minutes. The path steeply ascends over rocks to a smaller forepeak of Javorska. The path descends and ascends, mostly we walk only on rocks; on sections over grass, the path is hard to follow. Carefully follow the markers. The path occasionally withdraws from the ridge on both sides. After about 45 minutes from the last junction, we step onto the indistinct summit of Javorska, which we recognize by the ridge ahead rising steeply.
