Access to starting point:
Leave the A1 motorway at the Split exit. Continue on the expressway to Split, then continue on the Adriatic Highway to Stobreč. Pay attention here to the marked, traffic-light-controlled left turn just after the bridge over the Žrnovnica river. Drive through Žrnovnica to the marked intersection, continuing left towards Donje Sitno and Gornje Sitno. At the intersection above Donje Sitno, continue left. Shortly after the Church of Saint Luke, turn slightly left towards Gornje Sitno. Drive through the village to the parking lot at the end.
Path description:
From the starting point continue along the road to the junction for the Umberto Girometta mountain hut. Continue right onto the wide path. Walk along it for about 10 minutes above the precipice to the junction for the footpath to the Umberto Girometta mountain hut. Straight on the wide path also reaches the hut. Continue on the steep footpath which brings us over the edge in a few steep zigzags, then cross east for a while and soon enter flatter terrain. Arrive at a junction, continue right. Straight to Ljuvač. After a short ascent the path forks again. The described path goes straight ahead, alternatively continue left. The path ascends gently. Soon one of the paths from the road joins from the right. A little further a path to the viewpoint branches off. The path leads through a small valley between Kažel (840 m) on the right and Zatelak (892 m) on the left. Arrive at the marshy-grassy field called Ljuvač. Behind it the path ascends steeply and in 5 minutes of steep ascent through pine forest we reach the Umberto Girometta mountain hut.
From the hut continue towards Kozik and Veliki Kabal. After 5 minutes arrive at a junction, continue slightly left. Straight to Kozik and Planinsko zavetišče Kontejner, from which Veliki Kabal is also reachable. The path crosses the slope leading over numerous scree slabs. After 20 minutes of walking reach another junction, continue straight. Slightly left Vickov stup and Jabukovac. The path becomes somewhat overgrown. The path descends slightly, walk on rocks. Carefully follow the marks. Then a 20-minute crossing east awaits. The path leads over numerous short rocky sections and scree. At the end of the crossing pass from forest into low shrub belt. The path ascends steeply bringing us in 20 minutes of steep zigzagging to the main ridge, continue left towards Vickov stup. Right to Veliki Kabal 5 minutes. The path becomes somewhat overgrown and crosses the north side of an unnamed peak, then returns to the ridge. Over short rocky jumps reach a junction. Continue straight. Right planinsko zavetišče Hrvoje Dujmić and Jabukovac. From the left the path from the junction below Kabal joins. The path runs over rocky slabs, aided by a rope in places. After about 10 minutes reach Ljubirna, the second highest peak of Mosor, with fine views in all directions.
