Leave the A1 motorway at the Split exit. Continue on the expressway to Split, where we continue along the Adriatic Highway to the town of Stobreč. Here, pay attention to the marked and traffic-lighted left turn-off just after the bridge over the Žrnovnica river. Drive through Žrnovnica to the marked intersection, where we continue left towards Donje Sitno and Gornje Sitno. Upon arriving at the intersection above Donje Sitno, continue left. Shortly after the Church of Saint Luke, turn slightly left towards Gornje Sitno. Drive through the village to the parking lot at the end of the village.
Path description:
From the starting point continue along the road to the junction for the Umberto Girometta mountain hut. Continue right onto the wide path. We walk along it for about 10 minutes above the abyss to the junction for the footpath towards the Umberto Girometta mountain hut. Straight along the wide path one also reaches the hut. Continue on the steep footpath, which brings us over the edge in a few steep zigzags, then we traverse eastwards for a while and soon enter more level terrain. We arrive at a fork, where we continue right. Straight Ljubljan. After a short ascent the path forks again. The described path goes straight, but we can also continue left. The path ascends gently. Soon one of the paths from the road joins us from the right. A little further the path to the viewpoint branches off. The path leads us through a small valley between Kaželo (840 m) on the right and Zatelakom (892 m) on the left. We arrive at the marshy-grassy field named Ljuvač. Behind it the path ascends steeply and in 5 minutes of steep ascent through pine forest we are at the Umberto Girometta mountain hut.
From the hut continue in the direction of Kozika and Veliki Kabal. After 5 minutes we arrive at a fork, where we continue slightly left. Straight Kozik and Planinsko zavetišče Kontejner, from which Veliki Kabal is also reachable. The path traverses the slope and leads over numerous slabby sections. After 20 minutes of walking we are again at a fork, where we continue straight. Slightly left Vickov stup and Jabukovac. The path becomes somewhat overgrown. The path descends slightly, we walk on rocks. Carefully follow the markers. Then a 20-minute traverse eastwards awaits us. The path leads over numerous short rocky sections and scree. After the end of the traverse we pass from the forest into the belt of low shrubbery. The path ascends steeply and brings us to the main ridge after 20 minutes of steep path in zigzags, where we continue right. Left Vickov stup and Jabukovac. The path leads over a short rocky step and in 10 minutes we are at Veliki Kabal, the highest peak of Mosor, from which a beautiful view opens in all directions.
