Gornji Petrovci (Dol) - Sveti Benedikt (Kančevci)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Murska Sobota, then we follow the signs for Hodoš. In the settlement Gornji Petrovci we turn left towards Kuzma, then after about 100 meters we go right in the direction of the church of the Holy Trinity. We park just about 20 meters ahead on the arranged parking lot next to the ecological island.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return to the main road Murska Sobota - Hodoš and carefully cross it, then we continue in the direction towards Križevci. At first we walk on a sidewalk, then we go past the railway station and then over the overpass across the railway track. On the other side of the overpass we continue straight and continue walking on an asphalt road (here on some maps the path continues right). Next follows some ascent, then we arrive at the beginning of the settlement Križevci, where we go right onto a side road along which the marked path continues. The path ahead leads us along a narrower asphalt road, where we pass some houses, after a short descent we go right and continue walking on a poorer macadam road. A little further ahead the road turns sharply left, then we go past some more houses. Behind the houses we reach an asphalt road, at a smaller intersection we go right (left returns to the main road). Again follows some ascent, before some houses at a smaller intersection we go left. We bypass the nearby house on the right side, behind the house we continue on a cart track that leads us across a scenic larger meadow. Across the meadow we cross a slope, then we slightly descend to an unmarked junction.
We continue on the left cart track, which on the other side of the meadow enters the forest, where we again notice the blazes. A little before reaching the nearby road we go from the cart track right onto a narrower cart track that ascends to the nearby homestead, where there is often an unleashed dog.
At the homestead buildings we continue straight, at the end of the homestead somewhat right and then into the forest, where we continue on a marked forested cart track. The cart track soon turns into a trail, which due to poor troddenness becomes more and more similar to marked pathless terrain. For some time we carefully follow the blazes, then the trail widens into a cart track that brings us to numerous antennas. Here at the nearby house we continue left (right center of the village Kuštanovci), then in a few minutes we arrive near the tower on Kamenek, which is located a few steps from the path, but we cannot reach it because of the field.
From Kamenek we continue on the road that begins to descend, when after a few minutes the descent ends, from a smaller intersection we continue right onto a side road that continues through the forest, along which we walk to the place where some 10 m ahead we spot a residential house. Here we go slightly left, where along the edge of the forest the marked path continues, when just a little further we reach an asphalt road we go sharply left. Continuing we walk on a narrower asphalt road that runs between forest on the left and field on the right, we soon leave the road as the blazes lead us left into the forest, where the trail is lost, so we carefully follow the blazes. Higher we cross the asphalt road that connects Moščanci with Križevci, we continue on the marked path that continues through the forest. The path ahead gradually begins to descend, we descend about 50 elevation meters. Lower we reach a small pond, behind which along a cart track that leads past the hunting observation post we easily ascend to another asphalt road, which we reach at a smaller intersection.
We only cross the asphalt road and on the other side continue on a wider marked cart track, which first continues through the forest, when at the vineyard we leave the forest it turns into a macadam road. We continue with nice views, at the nearby house the road becomes asphalt. Follows walking along the mentioned road, which a little further also crosses a strip of forest, then brings us to the next houses in the settlement, where at a smaller intersection we go slightly left.
When we reach the main road Gornji Petrovci - Kančevci we continue right and then quickly arrive in the settlement Kančevci, where for a few minutes we continue along the main road. Further on the right side we bypass the cemetery, when we approach the church of St. Benedikt the blazes direct us left from the road, where then through a strip of forest in a moderate ascent we arrive at the church of St. Benedikt, which is located on a 358 meters high elevation.
