Griže - Dragov dom na Homu (direct path)

Access to starting point:
We leave the Štajerska motorway at the Žalec exit, and then follow the signs for Žalec. Through Žalec we follow the signs for Griže, which we reach soon after the bridge over the river Savinja. In Griže we go right in the direction of the cemetery, but we park at the parking lot opposite the parish church of St. Pankratius.

Path description:
From the parking lot opposite the church we continue on the asphalt road upwards, at the nearby crossroad we go right in the direction of Hom and Šešče pri Preboldu. The path ahead leads us past two chapels, then the road descends to a crossroad near the inn Gostišče pri Zibiki.
Here we continue straight (left path to Hom via Zahom), where we go past the mentioned inn and a few more houses; when we arrive in the forest, Griže ends. A little further we arrive at a crossroad, where signs for Hom and Pongrac from number 17-28 direct us left onto a side road (straight Hom via Lajnarjev hrib). Further on we walk through the forest, soon arriving at the next crossroad from which we continue straight or slightly left. Higher up the asphalt ends, and after approximately 15 minutes of further walking, signs for the footpath direct us slightly left upwards. A moderately steep path leads us further past a decaying structure, then a shorter steep ascent follows. After a few minutes of traverse ascent we arrive at the chapel, where the path flattens and from the right the path via Lajnarjev hrib or Brdarjeva pot from Matke and the path from Šešče pri Preboldu join us. We continue left, where further we walk on a gentler cart track; when we leave the forest we arrive at a small saddle, where the path from the hamlet Zahom also joins.
Here, upon looking to the right, a nice view opens up which, with good visibility, reaches all the way to the Kamniško-Savinjske Alps; we continue past the nearby house and continue on the steep macadam road, which we follow all the way to the top of Hom, where the church of St. Mary Magdalene and the Dragov dom na Homu hut stand.
