Access to starting point:
The hayrack "Laška vas - Pečovje" is an ideal starting point for mountaineering tours on the nearby hills. The hayrack was for a long time a characteristic of the gorge of the Bojanski potok stream between Pečovje and Laška vas, through which an asphalt road also runs. A few years ago, the hayrack owned by the farmer miserably collapsed, so the Municipality of Štore rebuilt it due to its recognizability with the help of European funds in order to preserve vernacular architecture. Next to the hayrack there is a large parking lot, where we can park our steel horse. We can reach the starting point by car from Celje and Štore, following the signposts for Svetina. When we have passed the area of the old part of the ironworks in Štore, we leave the main road to Svetina and turn right onto the turn-off to Pečovje. We continue on the narrow asphalt road for approx. 1 km and we are already at our hayrack. We can also get to the starting point on foot, as the path from the Štore railway station to the hayrack is fully marked.
Route description:
The starting point of the path is at the new hayrack. Our path to Tolsti vrh is practically entirely marked and equipped with signposts, but to various peaks and paths of the Celje hills, so we have to follow a detailed description.
At the crossroad at the hayrack, in accordance with the signpost to Svetina via Marija, we head along the asphalt road ahead in the direction of Pečovje. After approx. 200 meters, at the second crossroad, we continue sharply to the left and somewhat uphill. The asphalt road soon flattens again at the sports field in the Pečovje settlement. Here is the starting point of Barbarina pot, so in the first part of our trip we follow its signposts. After three terraced houses, we turn left onto the forest road, which turns into a forest path at the last homestead. Soon a path branches off to the left leading through Bojanski graben, while we continue straight uphill through dense forest. Higher up, we reach a forest road, where we join the Celje Mountain Trail (CPP) coming from the direction of Celje on the left. We continue along the forest road past homesteads and from here on follow the signposts for Barbarina pot for a while. Somewhat higher, a narrower forest path branches off to the left, which begins to ascend somewhat more steeply. Higher up, before the junction below Marija, some wire ropes assist us, more as a fence than as a handhold. At the junction, the CPP signs direct us to Srebotnik, where we continue to the summit along the steep eastern ridge. In the last part of the path, the steepness eases, and on the summit a wonderful view awaits us practically in all directions, along with the Slovenian flag, bell, logbook, bench, and stamp.
From the summit, we descend along the western ridge and continue on the CPP. A little lower, at the marked junction, we turn left (straight down the ridge leads the path to Hudičev graben). We continue the descent via the southern access all the way to the saddle between Srebotnik and Ramanca. Here we follow the CPP signs and continue along the forest road to the right, slightly downhill. After a few hundred meters lower, we reach a new path junction or Hudičev potok, where the CPP path to Tolsti vrh leads left uphill, and right a path branches off along an unmarked trail to Bavč, Grmada, Celjska koča, etc. We continue left uphill along the marked forest path, which gradually turns into a cart track, then a forest road. Higher up, we reach a junction where we join the asphalt road to the right toward Tolsti vrh, but follow it for only 100 meters. Then we leave the asphalt road and, according to the signposts, continue along a short cart track through the forest, then along the forest road. Further on, past the only homestead in this section, we follow the path uphill across the meadow/pasture area and reach Tolsti vrh from the east. The viewpoint is located another 50 meters ahead to the west, from where the southern and western Posavje hills are visible.
