Access to starting point:
In Hungary we reach the town of Pécs / Pečuha (best via Croatia, motorway Zagreb-Serdanci-Osijek-Beli Manastir, then via the border crossing Banatsko Petrovo Selo). We continue towards Budapest, but only about ten kilometres, when we notice signs for Hetinj / Hosszúhetény. In the town we park in a suitable place.
Path description:
From the starting point we continue north, where we will soon notice an interesting statue on the right (this section of the path is marked with a green square sign).
A little further, a path marked with a blue triangle starts on the right. We follow this path, which turns east. We cross a forest ramp and continue along a forest track, which is usually very muddy.
We quickly leave the track and continue along the left side of the streambed.
A bit higher we briefly join the track again, but soon leave it and go left. Further on the forest thins out and the path brings us to a junction where we join a path marked with a yellow triangle.
The path now climbs steeply; when it levels off we reach the main ridge, where some views open up through the tree canopies. The path then turns sharply right and continues east.
A gentle to moderate ascent follows, and passing a stone cross we reach the summit, where there are ruins of a former fortress and a huge observation tower offering exceptional views.
