Access to starting point:
We arrive in Croatia via the Gruškovje-Macelj border crossing and then drive along the motorway to Zagreb.
From the Zagreb ring road, follow the signs for Sisak / Sisek and drive into the mentioned town.
Through the town, follow the signs for the settlement Petrinja, which we reach after 10 minutes of further driving.
From Petrinja, follow the direction to the settlement Hrvatska Kostajnica, where the consequences of the devastating earthquake are still visible and traffic is quite difficult.
When leaving the town, we reach a junction in the village of Taborište, where we turn right into the settlement Hrastovica. The parking lot is by the church, bakery, and community home. Another parking lot is in the upper part of the village by the cemetery.
Path description:
From the starting point, head towards the first marker noticed at the steps to the church, behind the church descend slightly to the main square in the village, where signposts and a spring are noticed.
Continue uphill, where an interesting stream runs along the path, a bit further arrive at a junction, go left.
The path leads to the cemetery, where there is another parking option, continue to the last house in the village, along the path is also the Mesarićevo vrelo spring.
From the last house go left onto the meadow, where markers are sparse, looking back a nice view to the north opens up.
Further on, reach a junction where the path from the ski slope joins, go right. The path leads through the forest, becoming quite steep.
After a few turns, the path reaches the saddle between the peaks Paljenice and Cepeliš.
On the saddle, the path turns east but soon back to northwest. Here the forest is sparser. When the forest thickens, the path flattens and after some more walking reaches the summit.
The summit is in the forest, for a nice view climb the lookout tower. There is also a mountain hut near the summit.
