Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Koper, we take the exit Črni Kal. From Črni Kal, we continue driving on the old road towards the coast, but we drive along it only to the next somewhat larger intersection, where we turn left in the direction of the border crossing Sočerga. Further on, we drive towards the mentioned border crossing, but we follow the road only for a few km, as then the signs for the village Hrastovlje direct us left onto a local road. After a few km of further driving, we arrive in Hrastovlje, where at the intersection by the small chapel we continue right towards TIC Hrastovlje. We park on the parking lot near the TIC.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue along the initially still asphalt road, which we follow to the first fork. Here we continue left and follow the poorer macadam road past vineyards and fields to the spot where the marked footpath turns sharply right. We continue on the marked path, which first gently, then steeply ascends over the flysch hillside. Higher up, the path crosses a wider cart track and ascends above it through another ragged flysch hillside. Higher up, the path becomes increasingly scenic, and beautiful views open up to us on Hrastovlje and the steep step of Kraški rob. The path ahead steeply ascends over a small scree, then turns right and levels off somewhat. A moderate ascent follows through a pine grove and shrubbery, after which the path levels off even more and brings us to the summit of Lačna in a few minutes of further walking.
From the top, we can also climb to the lookout tower, from which a nice view opens up towards Slavnik, Učka, Gulf of Trieste, and in good weather all the way to the Dolomites and Julian Alps.

Unexpectedly steep trail for the Istrian hills. Pleasant surprise. Too bad it's so short.

On Saturday, 14.12., we were up there. In the afternoon, just enough to catch the sun. Windy on the tower and the view is beautiful. Nanos, Triglav, sea, Dolomites, Učka, we didn't recognize the rest. From Hrastovlje to the top 40 minutes. After return, stop at Švab inn. Real atmosphere inside.

Today on Lačna via path from Hrastovlje. In the lower part streams rush along the road everything soaked from rain.
In the olive grove along the path noticed some unharvested olives. Peaceful calm in the valley disturbed only by long freight trains struggling with climbs between Koper and Divača. At the top wonderful view from the tower: Koper, Trieste, Dolomites, Julians...

Short trip, ascent to Lačna quite steep in places, partly over rocky terrain. About two mildly dangerous spots (watch small children), safer to do this route uphill.
Good marking, either circles on trees or line in trail direction on rocks.
Beautiful views of Hrastovlje.
Lookout tower 12 m high, metal, sturdy. Climb on ladders, unsuitable for vertigo sufferers.
Combined with descent to Kubed and return to Hrastovlje via school educational trail at foot of Lačna. (in Kubed and below Lačna cherries, in Hrastovlje later in summer figs along the way).
At Šváb open only Fri-Sun.
