Access to starting point:
A) Highway Zagreb-Split we leave at exit Karlovec / Karlovac. Through the town we follow the signs for Split and Slunj. After Karlovac we drive through Jelase, Vukmanički Cerovac and Tušilović. In the settlement Tušilović we turn left in the direction of the settlement Vojnić. When we come to Vojnić we will notice tourist signs for Hunting cottage Muljava, to which we get to after 10 minutes of additional driving. We park at the hunting cottage.
B) From Bela krajina over the border crossing Metlika we drive to Croatia, where we follow the signs for Karlovec / Karlovac, we then follow the description A.
Path description:
From the hunting cottage Muljava we go towards the south, where we walk on an asphalt road. We soon get to the first crossing, where we cross the stream (the path straight leads past partisan hospital).
We continue along the small stream, which a little ahead we cross once again.
The path ahead starts relatively steeply ascending, and higher we cross also forest cart track, above which a steep path brings us on a ridge.
Further, the path becomes more rocky, and the steepness starts decreasing and we soon get to the top of Mali Velebit.
From the top follows some light descent, and when the path stops descending, we get to a smaller lake. After the lake, the path again becomes steep, and we get to the top of Veliki Velebit (the peak isn't marked).
After the peak we get to a forest road, where we go left, and the path brings us to a crossing.
We continue into the forest, where we walk on the path which leads us on border between young and old forest.
Next follows some light descent through young dense forest, and when the descent ends we get to an asphalt road, and in front of us, we soon notice a large monument.
From the asphalt we soon go right, then about a minute we continue on a cart track, and then follows also a shorter steep ascent, which ends at the ruins of former monastery (by the ruins there is a turn-off of the path towards the grave of king Petar Svačić, 10 minutes).
At the ruins we go left and in a minute of additional walking, we step on to the summit Mali Petrovac. The peak is in the forest and doesn't have any view.
