From the coastal highway we drive towards Izola, and when the highway ends, on a regional road we drive in the direction of Portorož. When we get to a crossroad, where a road branches off to the right towards Izola and camp Belvedere, we are at the beginning of the described path. We can park on a paid parking lot near the camp, or already much earlier at the roadside rest area.
Path description:
At the crossroad, where the described path begins, we notice a red mountain signpost with the caption Strunjan, which directs us across the side road. We carefully cross the road, and then for a short time, we continue along the main road towards Portorož. Before Hotel Belvedere we leave the main road and continue on a side road to the hotel, and from there we follow the blazes, which lead us past Camp Belvedere Izola. After the camp we go from the asphalt road slightly right, on a parallel footpath, on which we continue with nice views on the sea and coastal settlements. A little further, we reach a learning path, and the path descends a little through a strip of forest. At the crossings, we still follow the blazes, and then we reach the edge of the cliff above the bay Mesečev zaliv. Next follows a panoramic walk by the edge of a precipice, where for security reasons on many spots there is placed a wooden fence, and we follow the quite gentle and occasionally quite panoramic path all the way to Strunjanski križ.
From the cross we continue straight, on the path which at first still offers some view, and then we pass into the forest, through which we start visibly descending. At a few crossings we follow the blazes of the European footpath, and then past Hotel Svoboda we descend to a large parking lot in Strunjan, where we go right and continue with the path along lagoon Stjuža. When we get to the sea we go left and then we continue between Stjuža on the left and the coast on the right. A little further, we cross a canal over the bridge, which connects Stjuža and the sea, and on the other side of the bridge, we already get to Strunjan Saltworks, and we go left to the saltworks house.
