Kisbeszterce - Hollófészek

Access to starting point:
a) (via border crossing Terezino Polje / Barcs):
We enter Hungary via the border crossing Terezino Polje / Barcs and continue driving towards the town of Pécs (Pečuh). When we reach the settlement Szentlőrinc (Selurinac), at the traffic light intersection we turn left towards the settlements Oroszló and Bükkösd. We continue for about another 15 km until we see the turn-off for the village Mindszentgodisa. We drive through the village to the junction where the road branches off towards the village Kisbeszterce. We park at a suitable spot in the village.
b) (via border crossing Pince / Tornyiszentmiklós):
We can also reach Hungary via the border crossing Pince / Tornyiszentmiklós. We leave the motorway at the exit for Nagykanizso and continue driving to the town Kaposvár. From Kaposvár at the roundabout at the end of the town bypass we turn towards the town Pécs. We drive to the settlement Oroszló, where we turn right towards the place Szentlőrinc. Shortly afterwards we also leave this road and turn right towards Mindszentgodise, then continue the route as described above. This variant is faster in terms of time, but somewhat more demanding in terms of orientation.

Route description:
Wherever we park the vehicle in the village Kisbeszterce, we head south towards the end of the settlement. The asphalt ends, and the cart track leads us along meadows. Along the path there are several junctions, where we always continue south. The path then leads us into the forest.
In the forest the path reaches an overgrown clearing. Here we turn slightly left and begin to ascend more steeply. After this ascent the path descends and soon leads us to a junction, where we continue downhill again. We arrive at a small resting place, next to which is the spring Tóth-forrás, where we can refresh ourselves.
From the spring we continue uphill on well-maintained wooden steps. At this point the first markings also appear, namely a blue circle. A rather steep ascent in a few zigzags leads us to the ridge, where we join the path with a blue line from the village Szentkatalin.
We continue along the path that runs through a ravine and then further along a forest track. Along the path we cross a clearing, from where a view opens to the north.
We encounter several junctions, all of which are well marked. When we reach a wider forest road, we turn right, aided by directional arrows. We walk along the road for only a minute, then branch off to the right again. After a few minutes of walking we reach the summit Hollófészek. Here stands a large wooden viewing tower, from which, despite the relatively low elevation, an exceptional view opens in all directions.
