Highway Zagreb-Split we leave at exit for Šibenik and Drniš. We drive in the direction towards Drniš. When we come to the settlement Pakovo Selo, from the crossroad we go in the direction of Miljevci. After a kilometer of additional driving, we get to the canyon of river Čikola, where in few hairpin turns, we get to the bridge. After the bridge, we again in few turns ascend on the other side of the canyon. When the ascent ends and the road becomes gentle, we will after hundred meters, on the left notice tourist signs for ZipLine Čikola. Ten meters, and we notice the parking lot, where we park.
Path description:
The path starts by the road Pakovo Selo-Miljevci, exactly by the spot, where the road passes from the canyon of Čikola and continues towards the village Ključ.
From the parking lot, we go on a nicely beaten and for now still unmarked path to the first viewpoint, from which a nice view opens up on canyon of Čikola.
From the viewpoint, we go ahead and we get to the spot, where there is the beginning of ZipLine above the canyon of Čikola. Here downwards, there is also the path for canyoning, and we go still by the edge of the canyon, which is in parts secured with fences. Here is also the beginning of the blazes and the beginning of ferrata.
At the very beginning of the fixed safety gear, we will be rewarded with a view into an outstanding canyon of river Čikola, but there aren't much time for the view, because ferrata is at the beginning quite hard. We cross rocky plates above a very exposed ridge. After the first part, the path goes very steeply downwards on a gravel path. Next follows a little easier part, and we are getting closer to the spot, where the canyon is getting narrower.
A little further, we get to a very interesting part, where we go through a smaller natural tunnel, which is very narrow, and after the tunnel an outstanding view opens up into the narrow part of the canyon. After the tunnel, the path is gently to moderately descending, and the path is on several spots also dangerous for slipping.
The path ahead brings us to the lowest point of ferrata, where there is probably also the most beautiful part of the canyon. Next follows the first vertical ascent, where we get help from stemples. There aren't any time to rest because we are quickly on a shorter crossing of the smooth rocky plates, after which follows another vertical ascent on stemples. Next follows some walking without fixed safety gear, and at the next vertical ascent they show up again.
Higher, the path becomes less demanding, but because of the wet rocks is still secured. When we come to the natural small valley, we are somewhere on a half of ferrata, the most difficult part is behind us.
The path for some time continues without fixed safety gear and it isn't very demanding. The path ahead brings us to the last shorter ascent on stemples, and then we will on an easier crossing of slippery rocks come to the ascent where there aren't any stemples and for the ascent we will use only rocks. At the final part of ferrata there is some more crossing of the smooth rocky plates, which is interesting mainly because of the precipice and the river Čikola below us.
Fixed safety gear end, and the path turns on the other side and ascends from the canyon.
When we step from the canyon, there is a recommendation of the author of ferrata, that we should go on the edge of the canyon back to the beginning of ZipLine and ferrata, but I couldn't find this path (if it even exists). I recommend, that we follow the blazes, which bring us in the village Bašići. From there we go left in the village and in the village once again left. The asphalt will for some time end, and we get to the road Drinovci-Drniš. On the road, we go left in the direction of southwest, and we walk there to the roundabout, where we go left in the direction of Drniš. After 5 minutes we are at the destination, where we've parked.
