Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Kobarid, then continue driving towards Bovec. A little more than a kilometer ahead from Kobarid, we will notice an old military bunker on the right side of the road, steep stairs on the left, and a few meters further ahead on the right side a smaller parking lot, where we park.
We can also reach the starting point from the direction of Bovec.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue some 10 steps along the main road towards Kobarid, then carefully cross the main road, and from there continue on the stairs to which signs for Tonovcov grad direct us. We continue on steep stairs, in the middle of which on the steepest part a steel cable also helps us. After 5 minutes the stairs end and the path takes us into the forest, through which we ascend moderately. Further on, the path flattens a little more, but transitions to steep slopes. Because the path further on is quite wide and on exposed spots also secured with a fence, it does not cause us problems. Higher the slope also flattens and the path a little further brings us to the renovated ruins of the former Tonovcov grad, from which a nice view opens up.
