Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further to Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where you reach a junction; continue straight on the left (southern) side of the lake towards Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. Follow this increasingly narrow road to the large car park at Koča pri Savici. The car park is paid.
Path description:
From the car park, head onto the wide hiking trail towards Slap Savica and Dom na Komni (right path via Komarča). After a short gentle ascent, the path leads to a marked junction where the tourist path to Slap Savica branches off to the right.
Continue on the right path towards Slap Savica, which leads across a stone bridge. On the other side of the bridge, the ascent begins mostly on steps.
The well-maintained and paid path is secured with railings in some sections and after about 20 minutes of walking brings us to a shelter from which a nice view of the waterfall opens up.
For paid natural assets, free access is introduced every first Sunday of the month or during operating hours, thereby enabling visitation of natural assets to all citizens regardless of their social status.
