Kokarje (ŠRC Laze) - Holy Mother of God on Čreta (via Dom na Farbanci)

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Mozirje (to here from Šoštanj or highway Ljubljana - Maribor (exit Šentrupert)), from where, from the main roundabout, we continue driving towards Gornji Grad and Logarska dolina. A few kilometers ahead, after the Petrol gas station, we turn left in the direction of Nazarje. Further, we drive through Nazarje, where we follow the signs for settlements Dobletina and Šmartno ob Dreti. Soon after Dobletina and still before Lačja vas, we turn left in the direction of Kokarje. Further, we cross the bridge over the river Dreta, and then we quickly get to Kokarje, where at the marked crossroad we continue slightly right in the direction of sports field Laze, to which we arrive after a few 100 m of additional driving. We park on a parking lot by ŠRC Laze.
B) We drive to the settlement Šmartno ob Dreti (to here from Gornji Grad, Ljubno ob Savinji or Vransko over the mountain pass Lipa), and then we continue driving towards Nazarje. After Lačja vas we turn right in the direction of Kokarje. Further, we cross the bridge over the river Dreta, and then we quickly get to Kokarje, where at the marked crossroad we continue slightly right in the direction of sports field Laze, to which we arrive after a few 100 m of additional driving. We park on a parking lot by ŠRC Laze.

Route description:
Near the starting point, there is a marked crossing, from where we go on the bottom road in the direction of the mountain hut Dom na Farbanci (slightly left Čreta over Tajna). The path at first leads by the sports field, where at the unmarked crossroad we continue straight or slightly left. On the other side of ŠRC Laze the road changes into a cart track, and it passes into the forest. To the wide cart track at some crossings we follow in the direction of blazes, and then at the spot, where the cart track turns right and crosses a torrent, we continue left on a steep footpath. The footpath quickly flattens, and then at the crossings we again follow the blazes. A little further ascent ends and then follows a descent to the nearby asphalt road which we follow to the right, and there past two houses we quickly get to mountain signposts, where we continue left over a small wooden bridge, on a footpath in the direction of the mountain hut Dom na Farbanci. Next follows an ascent through the forest, where we are at first ascending on a cart track, and higher on a well-maintained footpath which leads us past Lahki studenec. Above the spring we cross another cart track, and then relatively steep path flattens a little and passes into an indistinct valley. From the valley we soon turn a little to the right, and then we at first join the cart track, and few steps higher also the macadam road, and then we quickly reach the mountain hut Dom planincev na Farbanci.
From the mountain hut Dom na Farbanci we continue left from the left road, where the path past wooden cottage leads us into the forest. Through the forest, we are at first ascending on a mountain path, and then we come to a wide cart track, on which we continue relatively steep ascent. Higher, the cart track turns sharply left, and higher a little to the right, where it also flattens and splits into two parts. We continue on the slightly left one, by which there are also blazes. Further quite gentle path leads past a smaller abyss, and then we quickly reach the forest road, on which we are then ascending to the nearby marked crossing Borovnjak, where the path to Tolsti vrh branches off to the right, and we continue on the left road in the direction of Čreta.
Next follows few minutes of walking through the forest, after that when we come out of the forest, at the crossing we continue left in the direction of Čreta.
Next follows a short ascent to the church of St. Katarina, and then through the yard of the nearby house we walk to the next crossing, where from the left joins also the other path from the settlement Kokarje.
We continue slightly right in the direction of Čreta (right Dom na Čreti) and we continue the ascent on a cart track which takes us into the forest. When the path flattens the path leads us also past a chapel and NOB monument and we are already at the church of Holy Mother of God, from which a beautiful view opens up.
