Leave the A1 motorway at the Split exit, then continue on the expressway following signs for the Split ferry port. There, buy tickets for the island of Vis. After 2.5 hours of ferry ride, we arrive in the town of Vis, where we follow signs for Komiža. The road leads to an intersection above the town of Vis, where we continue straight on the shorter road to Komiža (left is the longer road that goes along the southern part of the island). The road leads over the pass between Mali Hum and Orlovica. The winding road leads along steep slopes and we arrive at an intersection where the road to the center of Komiža branches off to the right, where the described trail begins. We can park at the intersection. We can also park below the church of St. Nicholas, which extends the walk by about 10 minutes.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue briefly along the road towards Vis, but leave it at a bend. Direction signs direct us to a steep asphalt road. After a few minutes, the markings direct us right onto an overgrown path. After about 10 minutes of walking on the path with some thorns, we return to the main road, which we cross diagonally. Direction signs lead us to a somewhat better trodden path. The path ascends steadily along the right side of a small valley. After 20 minutes, the path crosses the valley and begins to ascend more steeply. The path makes switchbacks. The path is rocky in places. Carefully follow the markings so as not to stray onto a game trail. The path crosses the slope of Orlovica, then moves to the slope of Sveti Duh. We can see the summit of Hum all the time. The path becomes steeper and makes switchbacks, after about half an hour we reach the edge where the path levels out. Soon we arrive at a gravel road leading from the road to Hum, where we turn left and in a few minutes we are at the chapel of Sveti Duh, from which there is a beautiful view in all directions. The summit of Hum is not accessible as it is in military domain.
