Koprivnik v Bohinju - Zgornji Goreljek (Pokljuka) (via model of windmill)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the Lesce exit, then continue driving towards Bled and further to Bohinj. After the settlement Bitnje, which the main road bypasses on the left side, continue sharply right in the direction of Jereka and Pokljuka. Further on, the road first ascends steeply, then after Koriti gradually flattens and brings us to the intersection by the bus station, where we continue right in the direction of Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the intersection, we arrive in Jereka, and from the intersection in front of the church we continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road again starts to ascend more steeply, higher it flattens and continues along the Mrzli potok stream. At the bus station signs for Koprivnik direct us to the left, and from the mentioned intersection we drive less than 200 m further and then park on the parking lot near the parish church.
B) From Železniki or Podbrdo drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue driving in the direction of Bled. Soon after the Petrol gas station, which is located just a little after Bohinjska Bistrica, continue left in the direction of Pokljuka and Jereka. Further on, the road first ascends steeply, then after Koriti gradually flattens and brings us to the intersection by the bus station, where we continue right in the direction of Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the intersection, we arrive in Jereka, and from the intersection in front of the church we continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road again starts to ascend more steeply, higher it flattens and continues along the Mrzli potok stream. At the bus station signs for Koprivnik direct us to the left, and from the mentioned intersection we drive less than 200 m further and then park on the parking lot near the parish church.

Route description:
From the parking lot at the church, we continue in the direction of the windmill model, and already after a good 50 meters we arrive at the intersection by the Pr Senekar inn, where we continue straight (left driving road towards Zgornji Goreljek). A little further, at the intersection after the transformer, we continue left, then after some time slightly left again. The path ahead leads us over a bridge with a green railing, at the first intersection after the bridge we go right in the direction of the windmill model. The asphalt road leads us past a few more houses and a chapel, then we already arrive at the windmill model, by which there is an information board.
From the model we continue along the road ahead, which after the "last" permanently inhabited house starts to ascend steeply. After a short ascent we arrive at the next house, behind which we continue on the cart track that leads us diagonally left across a scenic meadow. After a few minutes we arrive at the next hamlet, where the path first leads across the yard of the nearby house, behind the house we step onto the asphalt road. At the first intersection we go right, then past some inhabited houses straight onto the cart track, along which we continue the ascent across the hay meadow. Occasionally the path leads past some cottage; when we reach the narrower asphalt road, we have two options for continuing.
We can continue slightly left along the asphalt road, but it is preferable to continue sharply right onto the road that soon loses its asphalt surface. The path ahead leads along the edge of the hay meadow, and after the water supply structure it enters the forest, where we follow the ever-narrower cart track past individual cottages, continuing mainly steeply upwards. Further on, the cart track turns into an increasingly poor footpath, and when it can no longer be followed, we continue left uphill and in a minute or two reach the asphalt road leading to Zgornji Goreljek (here we also join the path if we had continued on the asphalt road lower down).
This is followed by walking along the ascending asphalt road, which higher up levels out somewhat and brings us to individual cottages on the edge of Spodnji Goreljek, where there is also a branch to the central part of the settlement.
We continue along the main road, from which soon a path, or road, branches left towards the Zajamniki mountain pasture. A little further we already arrive at Zgornji Goreljek, where wooden cottages and apartments become more frequent; at the intersection where one-way traffic is arranged in winter time, we continue right towards the chapel (we can also reach the chapel and Hotel Jelka by continuing along the left road). This is followed by walking along a fairly level road, along which we first arrive at the Goreljek bog, a little further at the chapel of St. Anthony the Hermit on Goreljek. From the chapel we continue a few more minutes and rejoin the previously mentioned road. Here we go right, at the next intersection left to Hotel Jelka.
From Hotel Jelka the trip can also be extended to Šport Hotel.
