Kranj-Stražišče (Šrotenturn) - Šmarjetna gora (west path)

Access to starting point:
From the old road Ljubljana - Kranj, in Kranj we turn towards Stražišče, and then a little behind the football field, at the roundabout, we take the first exit in the direction of Šmarjetna gora. From the roundabout along Delavska cesta we drive past Mercator for another 100 meters and exactly opposite the ATM we turn left (still before the former store TUŠ) onto Trojarjeva ulica and after ~500 meters we get to the recycling spot, which is situated a few tens of meters before the mansion or castle Šrotenturn. We park on an appropriate place by the road, after the recycling spot.

Route description:
From the starting point, we continue straight, and then at the castle right on the road Na Šmarjetno goro. On the mentioned road, we walk only a few steps, and then on the left we notice a beaten footpath which leads through a meadow. On the other side of the meadow, the path goes into the forest, through which it first ascends gently, and then moderately. After a few minutes, we return to the road which further leads past the house, and then it brings us to a smaller crossing at the bench, from which a beautiful view opens up.
Before the bench, the path branches off to the right "on a cart track", and we still continue on the road, where at the smaller crossroad we go on the upper right road. A little further, we leave the road and we continue slightly right, on a well-beaten footpath which at first ascends, and then it ascends diagonally towards the left, and on our left there is a mesh fence. Further, we stick to the right turn-offs, and the path quickly brings us to an asphalt road which leads to Šmarjetna gora.
From the mentioned road already after a few steps we go left on a macadam path, on which we are then moderately ascending. Higher, the path brings us out of the forest, where on the bottom side we bypass a business building, and then we soon reach an asphalt road, on which with nice views, we ascend to the top of Šmarjetna gora, where there is the church of St. Marjeta and hotel Bellevue.
