Access to starting point:
From Novo Mesto or Otočec we drive to the village Velike Brusnice. Further, we follow the road towards the village Gabrje. When the road almost brings us to the village, we come to a crossroads, where we continue left (right Gabrje center). The road then past the church runs forward towards Gorjanci. We follow the road to a crossroads, where the road branches off to the left towards Miklavž, and right towards Gospodična and straight border forest road. Near this crossroads, we park on a parking lot by the road.
From Metlika we drive towards Novo Mesto, but only to the pass Vahta. Here we turn right and follow the forest road for approximately 11 km to a crossroads, where left downwards the road branches off into Gabrje, straight towards Miklavž and right towards the border forest road. Near this crossroads, we park on a parking lot by the road.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road in the direction of Miklavž. The road, which initially ascends gently, brings us out of the forest after 10 minutes of walking. This is followed by approximately five minutes of walking on the road, which is surrounded by meadows, to the hut. From the hut to the church is less than a minute of walking through the forest.

Someone has to be the first to comment. Yesterday my husband and I decided to go on a trip to Trdinov vrh. We chose the steep path towards Sv. Miklavž. The path steeply ascends through the forest. It is well marked. After a good hour (with stops) we arrived at the church of Sv. Miklavž. At the glider take-off site we looked towards the valley but visibility was poor. We continued towards Trdinov vrh. In one hour we reached the summit. Finally the church of Sv. Jera has got a roof.
We can also treat ourselves to beer or something else on the Slovenian side. Return first part by road and then the same path back to the valley to the Pendirjevka stream where we started it.[
