Access to starting point:
Over the border crossing Jelšane or Pasjak, we drive onto the highway towards Rijeka. We leave the highway at the Opatija junction and drive on the expressway towards Pula, exiting at the first Opatija exit. We follow the signs for Lovran. In Lovran, we pay attention to the right turn-off for Liganj. The steep and winding road leads us to a larger intersection, where we continue left towards Liganj. When we arrive in the village, just past the church, we turn right onto a narrow road and park in a suitable spot along the road. At the starting point, there is a trail marker on a pole.
Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto an initially concrete path that leads us among houses, then blazes guide us to the right. We carefully follow the blazes. The path leads us up numerous concrete stairs past houses. We soon reach large rocks, behind which the path flattens and leads us along a stone fence. We return to a paved path and stairs. After approximately 15 minutes of walking from the starting point, we reach the remains of a settlement, then soon enter the forest. We arrive at the first crossing, where we join a wider path leading from the western part of Liganj. Straight ahead, a barely visible footpath branches off toward a nearby cave. We go right and after approximately 10 minutes of walking on a partly rocky path, we again arrive at a marked crossing, where we continue slightly left toward Vojak, to the right Lužinski breg and Gorica. The path then crosses a road, and after 15 minutes of a slightly steeper ascent, we reach the cross on Oplovac. Here, we leave the marked path, continuing left and then right on a macadam road. Along it, we cross the eastern slope of Knezgrad, and after 15 minutes of a gentle ascent, we arrive at the turn-off for the peak, where we step back onto a marked path. We continue right on the path, and in 10 minutes of ascent through the forest, we reach a spacious peak.
