Lockenhaus - Irrotkő / Geschriebenstein (via Weidriegel)

Access to starting point:
Leave the Graz / Vienna motorway at the Lafnitztal exit, then drive along the Burgenland Straße. In the town of Oberwart, follow the signs for Železno / Eisenstadt, and leave the Burgenland Straße at the exit for Rechnitz and Lockenhaus. Upon arriving in the town of Lockenhaus, turn right towards the town of Rechnitz, and park in one of the parking lots in the center of Lockenhaus.

Route description:
From the starting point, head to Hauptstraße road, from it after a few dozen steps turn left onto Schmiedgasse street. Near the cemetery reach Obere Gasse street, turn right there, then left behind the nearest house onto Rechnitzer Gasse, where we also notice signs for Rechnitz and Geschriebenstein. The path continues past a few more houses, a bit further the asphalt ends, the moderately ascending road first leads with beautiful views, then enters the forest. A few minutes further at the junction go left (continuation straight is also possible as the roads join higher up), then at two junctions continue straight. After reaching the indistinct forested summit of Weidriegel, descend gently and from the right the road joins us which we would take if continuing straight lower, from the left also a marked path joins leading through the Marchgraben gorge.
Continue following yellow-red markers at junctions, ascending on a forest trail that first crosses a gravel road, further on a wider asphalt road.
After crossing the asphalt road continue on the narrower gravel road, following yellow-red signs at junctions. Higher the road begins to descend gently, from a somewhat larger junction go right downhill. A few dozen steps past the junction turn left onto the cart track which ascends gently for some time, when the cart track ends ascend a bit more steeply for a short time on the path through the forest. At the rest area with benches and tables reach another cart track, continue following yellow-red markers at subsequent junctions.
Follow some traverses to the right, when the cart track turns left and ascends steeply continue straight on the marked path that zigzags ascending alongside the cart track, higher rejoins it, continue right. A little further reach a junction, continue straight across the wider road and proceed on the somewhat narrower road which transversely ascends to the right, upon reaching the ridge join the path starting at Geschriebenstein Passhöhe.
Here go left and continue gently ascending the forested ridge. Soon from the right joins the path from Rechnitz settlement, follow the path which in the final part ascends more steeply to the summit located on the border between Austria and Hungary.
