Access to starting point:
From Bovec, drive towards the Predel border crossing. In the village of Log pod Mangartom, immediately after the bridge over Predilnica, turn right towards Koritnica. The initially asphalted then gravel road quickly takes us to the parking lot at the beginning of the entrance to the central part of TNP.
Path description:
From the parking lot, head right onto the road that is closed with a barrier. The road runs close to the stream the whole time and crosses it several times. Towards the end, the road becomes narrower and takes us past some houses to a junction. Head slightly right onto the footpath following the signs for Jalovec, Pod Špičkom, Mangart (left Planina Brdo). The path then goes into the forest and soon brings us to a marked junction.
Continue right following the signs to Zavetišče pod Špičkom, while left leads to Kotovo sedlo and Mangart.
The path soon takes us to a stream which we must cross, then we ascend briefly through sparse forest. Followed by ascent on grassy slope and short ascent over scree to the entry into the climbing section of the path.
When entering the wall, first ascend left upwards along the fixed cable. The path soon becomes even steeper and ascends almost vertically several times along the cable with the help of numerous pegs. Continuing, we continue ascending the steep slope with the aid of cables, then the path turns slightly right and soon takes us into the forest where the gradient eases somewhat. From the forest, the path takes us to a slope covered with bushes and tall grass. The bushes then end and ascent follows through an ever more beautiful valley. Beautiful views open from the path towards Mangart, Jalovec and the sheer walls of Plešivca below which we are ascending. In the last part, the valley turns slightly right and ascent over scree to the saddle Čez Brežice follows.
At the saddle, continue left where the inscription on the rock “Špička” directs us. First ascend left upwards along the cable, then the path takes us to a grassy slope along which we ascend for some time. When we arrive below the cliffs of Mali Ozebnik, continue right and along the cable with a slight ascent traverse the precipitous slopes. In some places there is also a lot of scree on the path, so additional caution is needed. The path then takes us to a short very demanding section of the path. With the help of the cable and some pegs we ascend vertically, then traverse a few more meters across the vertical slope to the right. Continuing, the path ascends a somewhat less steep but unprotected slope and ascent follows over a very scree-covered slope to Škrbina za Gradom.
From the notch, continue left onto an unmarked trail that takes us to a grassy slope. Here continue left and ascend the grassy slope upwards. The slope is very steep here and also dangerous for slipping. When we reach the ridge, continue right and then along the exposed ridge soon reach the summit.
