Lovska koča na Brežičih - Tolsti vrh (Veža) (via Deska)

Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Luče, then continue driving into the Podvolovjek valley (towards Kamnik and Kranjski Rak). At the road marker between 11 and 11.5 km, we will arrive at a smaller intersection, where the road towards the Planinšek farm and the mountain pastures Podvežak, Ravne and Vodole branches off to the right (the turn-off is marked). We head onto this initially still asphalted road, which we follow at the intersections in the direction of the Podvežak mountain pasture. After a relatively long and in the upper part also poorer macadam road, we will arrive at the parking lot below the Podvežak mountain pasture (by the parking lot there is a gate and numerous hiking signposts), but we continue driving another good 500 m, or to the place where the road ends. We park in a suitable spot at the end of the road (at the end of the road there is a smaller hunting cottage).
From Kamnik we drive towards the Črnivec pass, but only to the intersection where the road towards Kranjski Rak branches off sharply to the left (the turn-off is marked and is located only 500 m before the mentioned pass). At the intersection by Kranjski Rak we continue straight on the main road, which starts to descend into the Podvolovjek valley. In the mentioned valley, we will arrive at the intersection just 100 m behind the Gams bar, where the road towards the Planinšek farm and the mountain pastures Podvežak, Ravne and Vodole branches off to the left (the turn-off is marked). Further, we follow the above description.

Route description:
From the end of the road, we walk to the hunting cottage, then continue slightly left into the forest, where we quickly step onto a nice hunting path. The path after a few steps of ascent brings us to an indistinct ridge, where the path turns right. We continue the ascent through the forest on a footpath that continues along and beside the ridge, from which we occasionally get a nice view of Velika planina, Konj and Rzenik. The path ahead enters a belt of dwarf pines, where we soon reach a less noticeable junction. We continue slightly right (slightly left path below the walls of Lastovec and Deska) on the path that quickly brings us from the dwarf pines onto panoramic grassy slopes. The path higher climbs along the edge of the burned dwarf pines (fire in 2003) and higher levels out somewhat. Further, on the right side we bypass the summit of Lastovec (ascent to Lastovec is only a few 10 m from the path, to which we can climb via easier pathless terrain), and the path then begins to ascend somewhat more steeply. Higher, the path, from which increasingly beautiful views open up, descends briefly for a short time, then brings us in a moderate ascent, after a few minutes of further walking, to the summit of Deska, whose top we recognize by the large cairn.
From Deska we continue along the gentle northeastern ridge of Deska on a poorly visible footpath, to which the path from the Podvežak mountain pasture soon joins from the right. We continue in the same direction (left down to Vodotočno jezero) and descend in the next few steps to the saddle between Deska and Tolsti vrh. From the saddle we continue on a well-visible footpath that ascends transversely somewhat to the right. Just before reaching the ridge, the passage is blocked by a belt of dwarf pines. Here the path turns right (away from the summit), then a passage quickly opens to the other side of the ridge, where we continue sharply left. Only a few minutes of somewhat steeper ascent follow, and the gradually worsening footpath brings us to the summit.
