Lozice - Eko koča Nanos (Lovska koča Vojkovo)

Access to starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana - Koper motorway, we take the Razdrto exit, then continue on the old road towards Nova Gorica. After Razdrto the road starts to descend more steeply, and we follow it to the intersection where a road closed to public traffic branches off left downhill towards Lozice, and to the right a road branches off to the former construction site of the expressway (the mentioned intersection is located near the 7 km road marker, and there are also signs for Nanos at the intersection). Since we must not turn left or right at the mentioned intersection, it is better to leave the car a few 100 m higher, at one of the several parking lots along the road.
b) From the Nova Gorica - Razdrto expressway, we take the Vipava exit, then continue on the old road towards Razdrto. We drive through Podnanos and past the junction of the road leading to Nanos. From the mentioned intersection, we follow the main road for only another 2 km, then we reach the intersection where a road closed to public traffic branches off sharply right and steeply downhill towards Lozice, and to the left a road to the former expressway construction site (the mentioned intersection is located near the 7 km road marker, and there are also signs for Nanos at the intersection). Since we must not turn left or right at the mentioned intersection, it is better to leave the car a few 100 m lower, at one of the several parking lots along the road.

Route description:
From the starting point we first walk to the intersection mentioned in the description of access to the starting point, then continue along the ascending road marked with signs for Nanos. The road first climbs steeply, then levels out temporarily and leads us under the viaducts of the nearby expressway. A few dozen meters further we reach an unmarked intersection, where we continue sharply right on the road that comes very close to the expressway.
When we see the transmitters on the right side (they are not visible in fog), on the left we notice signs for Nanos that direct us left. We continue ascending through a belt of shrubs to a meadow, where the path quickly leads us to a nearby spring. Above it the path turns left into a low forest, through which it begins to ascend first gently, then moderately. Higher up we reach a somewhat wider path, which we immediately leave, as the markings direct us left onto a gradually steeper trail. A few dozen meters higher we cross another cart track, and the path, which gradually turns left, becomes somewhat steeper. This is followed by a traverse ascent to the left, which leads us to the "Lozice resting place", where the path from Podnanos (starting point Hrašče) joins from the left.
Here we continue right towards the hunting lodge, where the wide path in numerous switchbacks leads us over increasingly steep slopes. It occasionally leads us over quite scenic sections from which there is a beautiful view towards the Vipava hills. Higher up we reach a somewhat more demanding spot, where the otherwise wide path traverses a short, exposed slope (especially in snow and ice there is a risk of slipping). Above the exposed traverse we reach a marked junction, where we continue straight on the wide path (left downhill Podnanos and Vipava, right Vojkova koča via Strmec). We continue ascending moderately and in a good 10 minutes of further walking reach Lovska koča Vojkovo.
