Mače - Cjanovca (via Kozjek and Dolga njiva)

Access to starting point:
A) From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Kranj - east, then continue driving towards Jezersko. When you arrive in Preddvor, leave the main road and continue driving left towards the centre of the mentioned settlement; from there, follow the signs for Mače. When you arrive in Mače, at the marked junction continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (the church is not accessible by car)) and drive up a narrow road above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.
B) From the motorway Jesenice - Ljubljana, take the exit Kranj - west and at the first junction continue left. Continue through the underpass under the motorway, then arrive at a roundabout, from which continue driving towards Golnik. The route leads through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement continue right towards the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where continue right towards Preddvor. In Preddvor, notice the signs for Mače, which direct left past the primary school onto the road that ascends to Mače. When you arrive in Mače, at the marked junction continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (the church is not accessible by car)) and drive up a narrow road above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, head back onto the road that we left. Follow it for approximately 40 minutes to the lower station of the cargo cableway at Kališče. The road in the last section is already more like a cart track. From the cableway onwards, carefully follow the blazes as the path in the labyrinth of cart tracks can quickly lead us astray. Once through this labyrinth, all cart tracks end. The path ahead climbs steeply through the forest and brings us to a broad little ridge. Here the path turns left and ascends along this ridgelet. The path continues ascending and at an elevation of 1300 m brings us to a junction. Here the path to Kališče branches off left, and we continue on the right path. After that, cross the gully and after just a few steps reach the next junction. Here turn sharply left following the signs for Srednji vrh (straight Hudičev Boršt). The path, which continues ascending through the forest, soon brings us to a little valley below Dolga njiva. The forest then thins out and the path turns slightly right. Soon we step onto the meadows of Dolga njiva, where we already spot the cottage standing on the pasture.
From the cottage on Dolga njiva continue straight towards Cjanovca and Srednji vrh (left Mali Grintovec, right pathless route into Hudičev boršt) along the path that first climbs the grassy slope then enters a belt of dwarf pines, where it continues along a wide clearing. The path, ascending diagonally towards the east, brings us higher to a less noticeable junction, where we continue right (left Srednji vrh). There follow a few minutes of moderate ascent through the dwarf pines, and the increasingly panoramic path brings us to the summit of Cjanovca.
