Mače - Planina Dolga njiva (via Kozjek)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Kranj - east, and then we continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to Preddvor we leave the main road and we continue driving left towards the center of the mentioned settlement, from there we follow the signs for Mače. When we get to Mače, at the marked intersection we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (church is not accessible by car)) and on a narrow road we drive above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana we go to the exit Kranj - west and at the first intersection we continue left. Further, we drive through the underpass below the highway, and then we get to a roundabout, from where we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The path ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. Next follows driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. In Preddvor we notice signs for Mače, which point us to the left past the primary school on a road which ascends to Mače. When we get to Mače, at the marked intersection we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (church is not accessible by car)) and on a narrow road we drive above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go on the road which we left. We follow it approximately 40 minutes to the bottom station of the cargo cableway on Kališče. The road is in the last part already more similar to a cart track. From the cableway onwards we carefully follow the blazes because in the labyrinth of cart tracks the path quickly takes us somewhere else. When we are done with that labyrinth, all cart tracks end. The path ahead steeply ascends through the forest and brings us to a wide little ridge. Here the path turns left and ascends along that ridge. The path continues ascending and at an altitude of 1300 m brings us to a junction. Here the path to Kališče branches off to the left, and we continue on the right path. After that we cross the gully and already after a few steps we come to the next junction. Here we turn sharply left following the signs for Srednji vrh (straight Hudičev Boršt). The path, which continues ascending through the forest, soon brings us into a small valley below Dolga njiva. The forest then becomes thinner and the path turns slightly to the right. Soon we step onto the meadows of Dolga njiva, where we already notice the cottage which stands on the mountain pasture.
