Malovan - Oklinak

Access to starting point:
Exit the A1 motorway at the Sveti Rok exit. Continue towards Gračac. In Gračac, continue left and then right at the roundabout. Drive past the turn-off for Cerovačke špilje. When the dual-lane road and the slope end, pay attention to the right turn-off. There is a mountaineering sign for Oklinak at the turn-off. Turn onto it, drive over the bridge above the railway and park at a small parking lot on the bend. Further driving is not recommended.

Path description:
From the starting point continue along the road past the barrier, next to which there is a sign stating it will be closed for return. Soon we reach a small meadow and a junction where we turn left. It is also possible to reach the marked path from the right, but it is unmarked in between. The road then approaches the railway and climbs gently. After about half an hour of walking we reach a junction where we continue right and soon left onto the logging trail. We climb moderately along the logging trail. After some time the path crosses another newer road. From the road the approach back to the logging trail is somewhat awkward. The path then climbs steeply. Carefully follow the markers at junctions. When the logging trail climbs steeply directly up the slope we reach the key section. The logging trail forks but we go neither left nor right. Find the marker on the tree between the logging trails and climb through the bushes onto the path. Fairly poorly trodden, it leads over numerous fallen trees. The path crosses the logging trail one last time where we must be very careful with the markers. Keep slightly left. There are quite a few unmarked tracks. The path climbs transversely to the left and makes a bend to the right. The steep path leads through the forest to an easy rocky step just below the summit of Čardak. After the step we reach scenic grassy slopes and in 2 minutes we are at the top of Čardak from where there is a fine view in all directions.
From the summit continue along the ridge. First there is a descent over the meadow. The path is very poorly visible here so carefully follow the markers to the forest. In the forest we cross a few rocky sections then the path descends a bit to the north side of the ridge and traverses under it for about 15 minutes. The path then begins to climb transversely back to the ridge. First it climbs steeply over the meadow then crosses a belt of forest. When we emerge from the forest we already spot the summit which is a few minutes away. From the grassy summit we have a view in all directions.
