Maria Buch - Liechtensteinberg (Seetal Alps)

Access to starting point:
From the Gorenjska side, we go over the border crossing Ljubelj to Celovec / Klagenfurt or over Karavanks to Beljak / Villach. Then we head to the highway in the direction of signs for Gradec / Graz. We leave the highway before the approximately 2 km long tunnel in the direction of Bad St. Leonhard. Further, we drive past the village St. Peter and the smaller town Obdach. A few kilometers after the tunnel at Obdach, the road brings us to a roundabout, where we take the exit Judenburg. Now the road leads on a flat section, where it brings us to signs for Maria Buch on the left. We turn left and drive to the next crossroad, where we continue right and after a few meters on the right side we notice a larger parking lot, where we park.
From Koroška, we first drive to Dravograd and then into Austria. We follow the road further towards St. Paul, St. Andrä and Wolfsberg. In Wolfsberg, we head towards Bad St. Leonhard and then towards St. Peter. Further, follow the description from Gorenjska.
From the Štajerska side, we drive to Maribor and then over the border crossing Šentilj into Austria. We follow the highway in the direction of Celovec / Klagenfurt. We leave the highway at the exit Bad St. Leonhard. Further, follow the description from Gorenjska.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue along the road next to which we parked. After approximately 15 minutes of walking on the asphalt road on flat terrain past the village, we reach the chapel, where we turn left upwards. After a few dozen meters, the asphalt ends and we continue walking on a road closed to traffic. Already after a few minutes of ascent, a worse road branches off to the left. Here we continue straight ahead, and at the next crossroad, we turn left. Further, we follow the road to the spot where the marked path leaves this road and heads left up the slope. The marked but partly overgrown footpath brings us, after five minutes of walking through the forest, to the forest road that comes from the other side of the mountain. We continue right along the road, which soon brings us to the pasture before the farm. Only a short walk remains to the farm, where a smaller mountain hut stands.
Further, we continue on the road, which turns into a cart track. The cart track crosses a meadow and then enters the forest, where it circles the slope on the left side of the path. Soon we emerge from the forest onto a panoramic meadow located on an indistinct saddle. Further, we cross a grazing fence and ascend moderately upwards along a footpath again through the forest. Already after a few minutes, the path brings us to the forepeak, where on the right side we notice a bench with a view into the valley. We continue along the path ahead, which first descends slightly, then ascends through a somewhat more overgrown section. When we overcome this belt of bushes, we reach the summit, where a bench awaits us.
