Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we take the exit Ljubelj (Tržič), then we continue driving in the direction of Celovec / Klagenfurt. After the bridge over the river Drava / Drau the road starts to ascend more steeply, but we drive on the main road towards Celovec / Klagenfurt only a few more kilometers, then we turn right in the direction of Žihpolje / Maria Rain. Further on we drive on Göltschacher Straße, which we follow to the parish office, in front of which we turn right onto Kirchenstraße. We then follow the mentioned street to its end, where the path to the viewpoint Petelinz begins. At the starting point there are no organized parking spaces.
Path description:
From the end of Kirchenstraße we continue on a worse road, on which further driving with a car is forbidden, after which in a few dozen steps we arrive at the information board. From the information board we continue on the worse road, which takes us past the chapel to a marked junction, where the path from the village Resnica / Ressnig joins us.
From the junction we continue slightly left in the direction of the viewpoint Petelinz. The worse road then gradually turns into a wide cart track, which mostly continues through the forest. A little higher another path from Žihpolje joins us from the left. Here we continue straight ahead, then a little further we arrive at the next junction, where we continue slightly right (slightly left Št. Urh / St. Ulrich (on signposts marked only Rosentalmarsch)).
A few minutes further we arrive at the first viewpoint with a bench, from which the view due to the nearby trees is nothing special. From the first bench we continue in the direction of "Petelinz" and begin to descend moderately to steeply towards the second, more magnificent viewpoint with a bench, from which a nice view opens up towards the river Drava, Borovlje and the Karawanks.
