Access to starting point:
We drive to Murska Sobota, then continue driving towards the town of Hodoš. When we arrive in Šalovci we take the exit from the roundabout towards the settlement Čepinci, but we continue driving through Markovci and Čepinci to the border crossing with Hungary. Through Hungary we continue to the settlement Števanovci / Apátistvánfalva and further to Monošter / Szentgotthárd. In Monošter we park at the parking lot at the intersection of Bethlen utca, Rózsa utca and Árpádu utca streets.
Path description:
From the parking lot we head to Rózsa utca street, where we initially walk on the sidewalk, accompanied along the path by occasional Hungarian markings. After a few minutes we arrive at the settlement Židova / Zsida. Continuing along the edge of the road, in a few minutes we reach a junction where a path branches off to the left leading towards Lake Haršaš past the Brenner chapel, we however continue straight, where the path leads us past the memorial cross of János Brenner. Through the settlement we continue straight for some more time, but when the asphalt road turns right, we continue straight onto the gravel road which bypasses the nearby homestead and pasture on the left side. The path further gradually enters the forest, and at junctions we follow the markings in the form of three lines, namely white-green-white. Further on we mostly ascend gently, the path leading us partly through the forest, partly across overgrown clearings. Higher we walk through the forest and follow the markings, when we begin to descend the forest starts to thin out again. Lower we first reach a cart track, then a poorer road, along which in a few minutes we reach a wider gravel road which we follow to the left. A few more minutes of walking along the road follow and we arrive at the southern part of Lake Haršaš.
The description and photos refer to the condition in June 2023.
