Novo Selo Okićko - Čerga (Plešivica)

Access to starting point:
We leave the highway Zagreb-Karlovac at the exit Zdenčina. We drive in the direction of the town Klinča Sela (north). At the traffic light crossroads we go straight. Only when we get to Klinča Sela will we at one crossroad go left (the arrow is unusually placed below on the fence). Now we just go straight ahead and come to the village Novo Selo Okićko. When we come to the bus turning point we park the vehicle at a suitable place.

Path description:
From the bus turning point in Novo Selo Okićko we go north downhill on a wider road. The path descends to the chapel where there is a junction. At the chapel, the path branches off to the right towards the mountain hut below Okić, and we continue straight and walk on the road for approximately one minute, then go left through a meadow and behind it into the forest, where we cross the stream. On the other side of the stream there is another junction, where the path splits into the easier and the harder (the harder leads over the rocky spur Popovdolska pečina (demanding)).
If we chose the easier variant we will soon step out of the forest onto the path which leads around the abandoned quarry.
After the quarry, the path returns into the forest and starts to ascend more steeply on a cart track. At the end of the steep part, the above-mentioned path over Popovdolska pečina joins us, and here we continue left towards the west. The path ahead is flat for a short time, then ascends more steeply along the ridge to the first peak of Plešivica, where the path flattens for some time.
When we get to a wider forest road we cross it, and the path on the other side starts to ascend steeply through more rocky terrain. At some spots we must use our hands and then we arrive at the next peak Zub (the ascent to the mentioned peak is quite demanding, but it can also be bypassed on a somewhat less demanding path). After Zub we will come to a landslide area, where the demanding part ends.
From here we will ascend to the next peak, from which to Čerga there follow a few more shorter ascents and descents. A little further, the path from the right also joins us from the village Rude and the mountain hut Okić. From the junction, the path ascends and descends a few more times, and then we finally reach the peak of Čerga, where there is a lookout tower and geodetic point.
