Access to starting point:
We drive on the Adriatic main road between Novi Vinodolski and Senj. In the settlement Klenovica, which is situated just beyond Novi Vinodolski, signs direct us to the left (or right, if coming from the direction of Senj) toward Krmpota and Alan. The road ascends steeply and winds through a few hairpin turns. After approximately 10 kilometers, we reach a crossroad where a road branches off to the left toward Luka Krmpotska and Omar. We turn onto it and soon turn right onto a narrow asphalt road toward the Glass chapel, Nebeška vrata, and the Sviba viewpoint. We drive past the turn-off for Kolovratske stijene, but as there are no suitable parking spots here, we continue through the settlement Omar to the parking lot at the end of the village.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we return along the road approximately 300 meters. Then a signpost directs us left onto a narrower footpath, which gently ascends through small meadows and strips of forest. After approximately 10 minutes, we reach a newer cart track and continue along it around the nearby peak Mićena glavica (883 meters). When the cart track flattens, we turn right onto a path that briefly descends before ascending through a strip of low bushes. On the path, there are some thorns. The path keeps more to the right, and we reach the grassy slope of Kolevrat. We arrive at a barely noticeable cart track, which we follow to the left. We continue along the cart track to the forest, then turn right onto a path. The path steeply ascends and briefly returns to the cart track. In a few steps, we leave it and continue right onto a rough logging trail, arriving at the saddle between Kolevrat and Črni vrh. Here the path to Kolevrat branches off to the right, slightly left along the road to Črni vrh and Ričičko Bilo. We continue slightly right along the road and a caption on a branch directs us left into a larger sinkhole. Straight along the road also leads to Kolovratske stijene. The path steeply descends into a smaller valley, then we carefully follow the blazes or the bottom of the valley. After approximately 20 minutes, we reach a larger meadow named Kolevratsko polje, which we follow to the right. The path is here poorly visible. The path starts ascending again and returns to the forest. The path crosses for a few minutes, then steeply ascends to an asphalt road. We continue right, and after 5 minutes, a sign directs us left onto a steep logging trail. The logging trail becomes harder to follow, and the blazes here are somewhat confusing. We must be careful that the blazes on the left do not mislead us, as we need to continue right along the logging trail and soon see the correct blazes, which we carefully follow to a crossroad. In between, the logging trail turns into a harder-to-follow footpath. Here, a variant from the right joins along the road, and we continue left. We soon leave the logging trail and continue right along a slightly more rocky path, which brings us to a crossing just below the top of Kolovratske stijene. We continue towards the walls, and the blazes guide us smoothly without major technical difficulties from the forest into rocky terrain. In 5 minutes, we are at the scenic Kolovratske stijene.
