OMP Matjaševci - Grenzgasthaus Mertschnigg

Access to starting point:
A) From the road Gorenji Petrovci - Kuzma, after the settlement Dolič we turn right towards Matjaševci. In Matjaševci we turn left in the direction of Austria and Tromejnik - Vinska turistična cesta Tromejnik (straight Trdkova and Tromejnik - Gozdna učna pot Tromejnik) and we drive to the border crossing Matjaševci, where we park.
B) We drive into the center of Kuzma, where from the roundabout we turn in the direction of Tromejnik. At the next crossroads, we follow the signs for Tromejnik; when we arrive at the border crossing Matjaševci, we park at a suitable place.

Route description:
From the starting point, we head onto the road that continues southwest (the road northeast leads to Tromejnik) and initially leads us with beautiful views towards Austria, then we arrive at a hamlet with a few houses in the settlement Matjaševci. When the hamlet ends, a beautiful view towards the Slovenian side opens on the left upon looking left, and then at two consecutive crossroads, we keep to the slightly left directions. The road then enters the forest and, after a short descent, ascends to the saddle between Jaklov breg on the left and the peak Schneiderkogel on the right Austrian side.
Here we turn right (left on the asphalt road to Kuzma) and bypass the nearby house on the Austrian side on the left. We continue on the macadam road, which still follows the state border; a little further, at a bench and table, an unmarked path branches off to the left downward towards the hamlet Samidraš. There follows some ascent and at a smaller saddle we reach an interesting sandy area noticeable beside the path. A light descent follows, and passing individual houses, we arrive at the inn Grenzgasthaus Mertschnigg.
